I want to thank all the creative and hard working people who presented us with these wonderful movies, the TV series of Roar, the stories, the scripts, as well as the wonderful interviews with Heath.I didn’t include all of my favorite scenes in this one tribute and certainly not all my favorite interviews. Impossible in a short video. However, it wasthoroughly rewarding to work on this labor of admiration and love. I commend your administration for being engaged, but I hope you can do much more to help support peace in Southern Sudan and Darfur.I'm supporting you to do all you can to help avert a terrible conflict there.
Specifically, I hope you can do more in three areas:
1. Peacemaking: Intensify our support for the North/South peace process and dispatch a senior diplomat to revitalize the Darfur peace effort.
2. Protection: Focus the post-referendum UN peacekeeping mission on civilian protection, particularly in border areas where civilians are most vulnerable to conflict and rights violations.
3. Pressure:You have said there will be benefits for peace and consequences for war.These should be big enough to get the attention of the Sudanese or they won't matter.
The best acting is done, not with words but organically, from the integrity of the actors spirit. Heath was a master at this. He acted with his heart. I am amazed anew each time I watch him in The Four Feathers and Candy. And Brokeback too, but read on and you will see why this video had to omit any video from BBM. No Brokeback Mountain This has been redone from the original which was banned in the USA, but viewable everywhere else on planet Earth. The problem was due to Brokeback Mountain clips that I used (NBC Universal). This time I removed all BBM movie clips and replaced the clips with stills. Not as good, but allowed everywhere.
It is obvious that this work was in my early days of learning how to do videos. It made it difficult to make a better video out of the finished video. And I am sorry about the different sizes of video within the video. So, this is a compromise -- some improvements, but still a little rough in concept. I simply chose some exceptional scenes that I love, especially from Candy and The Four Feathers.

I have two projects going for youtube videos. One is for Darfur and one is for my other passion: Heath Ledger. I am waiting for some collaboration with Mohamed Suleiman for the Darfur video project, so I started the one for Heath a couple of days ago with some focus. I have spent a week working on thinking of a song I could use for it. But the real journey for a song is finding one that won't be banned in the USA or Germany. So I test them out by uploading an incomplete video with a song and make it for private viewing only and wait for the consequences of walking on the wild side of copyright issues.
I have been making Heath Ledger youtube videos from his movies since July 2, 2009.Including the one I am working on currently, I will have eight. This is my first time of working on: Ten Things I Hate About You. I really only watched it about a week ago although I bought it a long while ago. I just thought it too fluffy when I saw bits of it with a trial watching when I took it out of my local library statewide system.
I spent the entire night last night searching for the right music for this project.Three times I worked on loading and reloading videos at youtube with a song I wanted and three times one country banned my selection. That would be Germany.And I couldn’t possibly leave Germany out, especially because of a wonderful Heath fan, Johanna, who is from Germany.So, this morning when darkness had turned to sun rising, I raised both hands in joy and brought them down with a jolt while making two fists and saying an emphatic “Yes!!” and with such glee. I got up and quick-stepped around the house.
And old 1975 Pointer Sisters record that had reaped me benefits with the new “machine” I bought a week ago to turn my old long playing records into mp3s delivered the song to me.It takes some doing to figure out how to use the thing. And never do the scratches go completely away, but the song was going to work, even though it was my fourth choice.
My first three choices that Germany rejected are:

I really wanted Fire and badly. And still do. But not even karaoke could save me….no good renditions there.And Bruce Springsteen had no recordings of it on itunes. One of his songs has worked for me on youtube. But come to think of it, that video has recently developed into a banned one in Germany, although for a long time it was not banned anywhere. The best version of Fire is the Pointer Sisters version in my opinion.
But a bonanza happened when I searched after my first success while searching song after song and cd after cd of karaoke songs.So now I have two songs to work with.A great unidentified singer (as all vocal lead singer versions of karaoke are) sings one of my favorite songs, which Otis Redding introduced me to… Rock Me, Baby.

What I have learned by doing edits of these movies is a great deal.I have learned about editing, music selection and importance, benefiting from my creative disappointments of not doing a great job, the frustrations of copyright laws and all that entails.And most appreciatively, I have learned about Heath and his acting ability.I looked up when he did Ten Things and what he did for the next few movies and was astonished at his quick improvement.In Ten Things Heath is good and is adorable.But it is truly astounding how he developed in such a short time to greatness.He was born April 4, 1979 (my dob is April 2) and apparently made Ten Things when he was 19.
When I edit the movies for these little Youtube renditions as contributions to his fans around the world, I notice things that I would not have noticed if I had never worked on the movies with the repetition of watching two or three seconds of him and working with those two or three seconds.For example, in Ten Things, he ratchets back a lot and puts his hand in his hair a lot.I did similar things in the play that I have up here at youtube.For me, I cringe when I see myself be so repetitive with particular movements and know I would have learned to improve that, just as Heath obviously did in each new film.
He was young and only had himself as an acting coach.It is simply stunning to see his transformation not only as each of his characters, but in his transformation as an actor.He seemed to grow up between two or three movies from a beginning talented actor to an actor in a class all his own.And sometimes he grew so fast it seems ten years went by from Ten Things (release date: 1999) to say Monsters Ball (release date:2001).Just unbelievable.
As I watched the cast of Nine on Oprah today, I was reminded of Daneil Day-Lewis’ SAG Award winning speech where he dedicated his SAG award to Heath, January 2008:
While watching the actors on Oprah, today, I felt so sad, that we never got to witness Heath up on that stage accepting his award. So sad, that Heath couldn’t possibly know what he has touched and how he has touched so many of us. So very deeply and passionately.

When a young, hunky 20 year old heart-throb Heath Ledger first came to the attention of the public in 1999, it was all too easy to tag him as a "pretty boy" and an actor of not much depth. He has spent the past five years trying desperately to sway this image away, but this has indeed been a double-edged sword. But that comes much later in his story. Heath Ledger was born on the fourth of April 1979, in Perth, Western Australia. As the story goes, in junior high it was compulsory to do one of two electives, either cooking or drama, and as Heath could honestly not see himself in a cooking class, he tried his hand at drama. Heath was talented, there was no denying that. However, the rest of the class did not acknowledge his talent, possibly out of jealousy. When he was 17, he and a friend, decided to pack up, leave school, take a car and rough it to Sydney. Heath believed Sydney to be the place where dreams are made, or at least, where actors can possibly get their big break. However, upon arriving in Sydney with a purported 69 cents to his name, Heath tried everything to get a break. His first real acting job came in a low budget movie called Blackrock (1997), a largely unimpressive cliché; a teen angst film about one boy's struggle when he learns his best mate raped a girl. He did not have a large part in this movie. In fact, it was a very small one. The only thing of notice in his role is you get to see him get his lights punched out. After that small role, Heath auditioned for a role in a TV show called "Sweat" (1996) about a group of young Olympic hopefuls. He got offered one of two roles, one as a swimmer, another as a gay cyclist. Heath accepted the latter because he felt to really stand out as an actor one had to accept unique roles that stood out from the bunch. It got him small notice, but unfortunately the show was quickly axed, which led him to look for other roles. He was in "Home and Away" (1988) for a very short period, in which he played a surfer who falls in love with one of the girls of Summer Bay. Then came his very brief role in Paws (1997). Paws was a film which existed solely to cash in on guitar prodigy Nathan Cavaleri's brief moment of fame, where he was the hottest thing in Australia. Heath played a student in the film, involved in a stage production of a Shakespeare play, in which he played "Oberon". A very brief role, this did nothing other than give him a small paycheck, but nothing to advance his career. Then came Two Hands (1999). He went to America trying to audition for film roles, showcasing his brief role in "Roar" (1997) opposite then unknown Vera Farmiga. He could not find any American roles but then Australian director Gregor Jordan auditioned him for the lead in Two Hands (1999), which he got. An in your face Aussie crime thriller, Two Hands (1999) was outstanding and helped him secure a role in 10 Things I Hate About You (1999). After that, it seemed Heath was being typecast as a teen hunk, which he did not like, so he accepted a role in a very serious war drama The Patriot (2000).
What followed was a stark inconsistency of roles, Ledger accepting virtually every single character role, anything to avoid being typecast. Some met with praise, like his short role in Monster's Ball (2001), but his version of Ned Kelly (2003) was an absolute flop, which led distributors hesitant to even release it outside Australia. Heath finally had deserved success with his role in Brokeback Mountain (2005), for which he was nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA. Ledger was found dead on January 22, 2008 in his apartment in the Manhattan neighborhood of SoHo, with a bottle of prescription sleeping pills nearby. It was concluded weeks later that he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs that included painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.

I know I am not unique in feeling a special connection to the soul of Heath.
I know because I watch the videos that fans make on different video hosting sites. You can see the special feelings that Heath enlivens and inspires in his fellow human beings.
And we are grateful. It make us feel more alive.
So in this way death does not end a life . . . . Heath is still with us.
Inside us.
Just like his characters came from inside him. He let them get in there and come through him.
Heath played such diverse roles. He showed whimsy, depth, intelligence, sexiness, vulnerability, strength and humor. These two movies alone show contrasts that make me marvel at his talent.

I became interested in Heath Ledger's movies earlier this year.
Heath Andrew Ledger was born April 4, 1979 and died January 22, 2008.
I have seen some of his movies in this order A Knights Tale, The Four Feathers, Brokeback Mountain, Ten Things I Hate About You, The Order, Ned Kelly, Cassanova, The Brothers Grimm, The Patriot, The Dark Knight, I'm Not There, Monsters Ball and Candy. I bolded the ones that I found myself relating to in a special way or being drawn to with a special connection. I didn't want to see Candy because it is about addiction, but the music at the beginning is hauntingly grabbing and the way the characters are played is exceptional. And Heath as Dan, pulls you in. Heath is special that way. He is able to get inside the character. Or the character gets inside him and Heath let's it play through him.
My plan was to make a video while using four of his movies to show the diversity of the roles and his ability to become the contrasting characters from the inside out. But in the in end my computer wouldn't allow me to use more than the two in the above video - not enough hard space, so it said. And because of this, I wasn't able to fine tune the transitions, the video is disappointing from a creative point of view for me. I learned some things when I did it and will try to improve on it in my next effort. The movies I used, Candy and A Knights Tale, do show contrasting roles. In January of 2007, while visiting his homeland of Australia, Heath Ledger presented Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse with an idea to direct a video for their yet-to-be-released song “King Rat”. Heath’s vision, brave and unapologetic in its nature, would marry his love of bold and original music with his impassioned stance against the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place off the coast of Australia each year.
Always one to operate from his heart and take a stand for what he cared deeply about, Heath’s intention was to raise awareness on modern whaling practices through a potent visual piece without having to say a word. It was his way to let the story, in its candid reversal, speak for itself.
The video was fully conceived down to the last detail but unfinished when Heath passed away in January of 2008. We completed the video in his honor with the support and advocacy of Isaac Brock.
Proceeds from iTunes video downloads in the first month of release will go toward Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization committed to ending the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. The King Rat video was directed by Heath Ledger, co-directed and illustrated by Daniel Auber with lead animation by Norris Houk, animation by Jade Taglioli and produced by Sara Cline of THE MASSES.

Those of us who feel Heath's spirit is connected to our own have Heath to bring us together I find. Those of us who check Youtube daily for new Heath fan tribute videos begin to respect one another's interest and honoring of Heath.
I find it difficult to think of Heath as gone in a way. There he is so real in the films and in the interviews in the dvd's special feature sections. These special features are gems.
Thanks to the directors of the films who put these special features together and respected Heath and his talent so much.
I love my life. I love where I live. And I am passionate about my passions. I love to dance. Necessary to live: music, piano, singing, writing, acting, painting.
I have been fighting for and supporting the arts all my adult life. Since 2004, I have been working with other activists to end the Darfur genocide.
I have traveled to Europe many times since my early twenties. Places I have been: many USA states including Hawaii, Montreal, Canada, Barbados, France, Spain, Luxembourg, England, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Germany - and have wonderful memories.
My last trip was in May - June 2013 to Spain.
I would like to travel to Europe and Kyoto, Japan.
I love the southwest where I have visited Hopi, Navajo, Zia and San Idlefonso potters.
Life is exciting and I intend to live it full-out to the end.
