LOVING TRIBUTE TO HEATH LEDGER BY JOHANNA

Johanna has done it again. She has created a tribute for Heath Ledger that is "other worldly". This is the time of year when Heath left this earthly existence and many of us think of that day in January when he slipped into the sleep of sleeps....

HEATH LEDGER ❧❧ TONIGHT WILL BE FINE ❧❧ TEDDY THOMPSON

I am still not happy with my newest upload to youtube. You can never know how it will compress and show up on youtube, so I have some glitches that I have tried to resolve, but so far they haven't resolved. And now I don't want to lose the viewer count that I have. But, having lived with me my whole life, I know me. I won't quit trying. But in the meantime, I post the text here that is at youtube, then I post the embed for now at the large size and the small size. Eventually I will delete the large size here because it doesn't fit the blog.

EDIT to original post❧

The videos on this particular post are not public at Youtube, but unlisted. I believe I have resolved one of the glitches. The public video at Youtube, still has the glitch, but it also has a prominent placement on the day and week listings under "Heath Ledger" and a respectable viewer count.

Teddy Thompson sings Leonard Cohen's song

❧ Tonight Will Be Fine ❧

Sometimes I find I get to thinking of the past.
We swore to each other then that our love would surely last.
You kept right on loving, I went on a fast,
now I am too thin and your love is too vast.

But I know from your eyes
and I know from your smile
that tonight will be fine,
will be fine, will be fine, will be fine
for a while.

I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
the windows are small and the walls almost bare,
there's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

But I know from your eyes
and I know from your smile
that tonight will be fine,
will be fine, will be fine, will be fine
for a while.

Oh sometimes I see her undressing for me,
she's the soft naked lady love meant her to be
and she's moving her body so brave and so free.
If I've got to remember that's a fine memory.

And I know from her eyes
and I know from her smile
that tonight will be fine,
will be fine, will be fine, will be fine
for a while.

Brokeback Mountain is banned from USA viewers for me. Therefore, I captured images from the movie to be able to include it in the tribute. Please, support musicians Leonard Cohen and Teddy Thompson.

I want to thank all the creative and hard working people who presented us with these wonderful movies, the TV series of Roar, the stories, the scripts, as well as the wonderful interviews with Heath. I didn’t include all of my favorite scenes in this one tribute and certainly not all my favorite interviews. Impossible in a short video. However, it was thoroughly rewarding to work on this labor of admiration and love. And it amuses me each time I watch this and it comes the place where Heath is in the interview where he is trying to avoid answering questions about his personal love life. (2:17 – 2:24)

Darfur and Sudan

To sign the petition to President Obama ~

The letter

On January 9th, Southern Sudan will hold its independence referendum. Both North and South are preparing for war, leaving civilians at grave risk of major human rights violations.

I commend your administration for being engaged, but I hope you can do much more to help support peace in Southern Sudan and Darfur. I'm supporting you to do all you can to help avert a terrible conflict there.

Specifically, I hope you can do more in three areas:

1. Peacemaking: Intensify our support for the North/South peace process and dispatch a senior diplomat to revitalize the Darfur peace effort.

2. Protection: Focus the post-referendum UN peacekeeping mission on civilian protection, particularly in border areas where civilians are most vulnerable to conflict and rights violations.

3. Pressure: You have said there will be benefits for peace and consequences for war. These should be big enough to get the attention of the Sudanese or they won't matter.

Sincerely,

My letter is posted here

........................................................................

........................................................................
This is nothing special
as I didn't spend much time making the video.
Just something I shot today and wanted to share.

It is a private video at Youtube, so no one can see it there. I just posted it here.

UDATE November 16, 9:30 a.m.
Johanna, a friend I met at youtube, has informed me by her comment below that this video is not viewable here. Therefore, I learned my first thing for today.

If you want to see it (unless I decide to make it public one day), then you have to become a "youtube official friend" and I then can make it available to you. I apologize for this inconvenience. I just didn't think this video merited youtube, as it is a humble presentation of mine.

Try this link
private ~ it may also allow you to see it - would someone let me know, if indeed it works?

46 people came here between approximately 11:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. last night and obviously couldn't see the video. And I won't know how many since 3:00 a.m. have come here until tonight at 3:00 a.m.

I added pictures of Heath from Brokeback Mountain. One of my youtube videos is available to the whole world, but restricted from the USA due to my use of Brokeback Mountain clips. (And I love that video...a shame.) So, here I used photos that I retrieved online. Disappointed that the great flash of a smile from Heath as Ennis Del Mar isn't clear. But I love Heath's smile in that photo.

All videography and photography I took today, November 15, 2009. Pictured in Rhode Island is Aquidneck Island's Sachuest Beach and Wildlife Refuge where I love to go for my heart and soul to commune with the universe. Map Quest for this area. The photo at the end was taken this afternoon on a gray day of leaves in my yard from my Japanese red maple tree that stands at my front door.

As I said, I love to go to Sachuest Wildlife Refuge in Middletown, Rhode Island, which is ten minutes from my home. I usually take my cameras. Tonight I only took my Kodak Share camera. It isn't a great camera and mainly is for still photos, however it can be used for movies. The zoom is jerky though which means it is useless pretty much for anything other than panning. And for some reason unknown to me it alternates between clarity and fuzzy focus on the video quality.

The video and photos do not really show what it was like there tonight. There was a mist rising, more than the typical energy in the waves and the accompanying sound was bold ~ the feeling of standing "in it" with it all encompassing me was other worldly. The tide was coming in and I stood a few feet from the inmost waves splashing on the rocks. It was heavenly.

The last couple of times I have gone to Sachuest, including tonight, I have taken my recorded music, my headphones and sing along with myself. Tonight, darkness came by 5:00 p.m., while I sang facing the waves of Sachuest on the Atlantic Ocean. I had a wonderful, vibrant time. At one point, I heard something sneeze and figured it had to be a deer. Do deer sneeze? Because I was a little bit afraid, I moved to the opposite side of the refuge's building and continued to sing. When a car was driving up the hill it stopped and in the headlights beaming across the refuge field, I saw the silhouette of a deer looking my way straightaway. When I drove down the hill, I stopped by the deer I saw, actually there were three there and later on the road home two more.

I sang a couple of my favorite songs:
Go 'Way from My Window written by John Jacob Niles, a blues song and Peace Will Come a song from the 1960s written by Melanie Safka. Both of the songs I have written additional parts for. I love these songs.

Here on this video is the last song that I ended the nighttime singing . . . a song that I bought at itunes as a karaoke. The song is
I Don't Want to Talk About It, but I changed the words to be sung about Heath Ledger. I originally heard this song sung by Rod Stewart. But it has gotten difficult at Youtube to know what songs will be allowed, so my solution has been to buy songs as karaoke once I fall for a song.

I'm working on my confidence to sing solo in public, so it is good practice to sing by the ocean. Others have subways and streets to do their singing. I sing at Sachuest. We have no subways and Newport doesn't allow singing in the parks and on the streets.

A couple of weeks ago, I was singing at the end of the day at the same spot. The sunset was simply
stunning. Just glorious! My camera's battery was dead, so I could only soak it in my feelings. That night I went to get in the car to leave and I turned to see the sunset one last time. It had changed again and got even more beautiful, so I walked back to watch some more and sing. When I turned to walk to my car for the second time, a couple was standing at their car. The man with his hand leaning on the car looking my way. The woman at the passenger door also looking my way. They had been listening to me sing (There's a Chance) Peace Will Come. The man gave me a thumbs up. It was a great feeling to know that they paused to listen before they got into their car to drive away and go home. Especially, since I am shy about singing in public and here I didn't know anyone was listening. I was just enjoying singing.

My lyrics to I Don't Want to Talk About It

Can you tell by my face

I’m aching inside for so long,

And the stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you,

they’re a mirror.

I don’t want to think about it ~

how my heart is breaking

since your leaving that winter’s night

If I stay, won’t you listen to my heart?

If I stand here alone,

will the shadow hide the colors of my heart;

Blue for the tears,

black for the night’s fears.

The stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you,

they’re a mirror.

I don’t want to talk about it,

how it breaks my heart.

If I live here

just a little bit longer,

If I stay, won’t you listen

for my heart?

Oh, my heart.

Can't you tell by my eyes

I been aching inside for so long

And the stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you,

they’re a mirror.

I don’t want to think about it, how my heart is broken,

How you left your mark on my heart,

If I stay here, won’t you listen for my heart,

whoa, my heart?

Oh, I miss you, please,

feel my heart.

Oh, my heart.

Can you tell by my face

I’m aching inside for so long,

And the stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you,

they’re a mirror.

I don’t want to think about it how my heart is breaking,

Since your leaving that winter’s night

If I stay, won’t you listen to my heart?

If I stand here alone,

will the shadow hide the colors of my heart;

Blue for the tears,

black for the night’s fears.

The stars in the sky don’t mean nothin’ to you,

they’re a mirror.

I don’t want to talk about it,

how it breaks my heart.

If I live here

just a little bit longer,

If I stay, won’t you listen

for my heart?

Oh, my heart.

Heath Ledger - In Loving Memory by Alter Bridge
Uploaded by jopicca

Lyrics

Thanks for all you've done
I've missed you for so long
I can't believe you're gone
You still live in me
I feel you in the wind
You guide me constantly

I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
And I'll come home and I miss your face so
Smiling down on me
I close my eyes to see

And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me

I carry the things that remind me of you
In loving memory of
The one that was so true
Your were as kind as you could be
And even though you're gone
You still mean the world to me

I've never knew what it was to be alone, no
Cause you were always there for me
You were always there waiting
But now I come home and it's not the same, no
It feels empty and alone
I can't believe you're gone

And I know, you're a part of me
And it's your song that sets me free
I sing it while I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight cause it comforts me

I'm glad he set you free from sorrow
I'll still love you more tomorrow
And you will be here with me still

And what you did you did with feeling
And You always found the meaning
And you always will...

HEATH ~ THIS WORLD WAS NEVER MEANT FOR ONE AS BEAUTIFUL AS YOU

Heath in I'm Not There

..................................................

Video of Morning Yearning by Ben Harper
Video directed by Heath Ledger
..................................................
Heath is proof that we are connected by the Spirit of Life.
His spirit was bright and continues to shine in our souls.

"Morning Yearning"

A finger's touch upon my lips
It's a morning yearning
Pull the curtains shut, try to keep it dark
But the sun is burning

The world awakens on the run
And will soon be earning
With hopes of better days to come
It's a morning yearning

Another day, another chance to get it right
Must I still be learning
Baby crying kept us up all night
With her morning yearning

Like a summer rose, I'm a victim of the fall
But I'm soon returning
Your love' s the warmest place the sun ever shines
My morning yearning.

His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees,
hugs animals,
and takes steps two at a time,
and we know that he is with us still.

Text from poster's Youtube page sidebar:
This is a tribute to Heath Ledger & the two great loves of his life, Michelle & especially Matilda Rose. Heath asked his friend Ben Harper to write this song as a lullaby for his beautiful Matilda. It's called Happy Ever After In Your Eyes

"Happy Everafter In Your Eyes"

The morning sunrise spread her wings
While the moon hung in the sky
Held the sea in your hands
And happy everafter in your eyes

Couldn't leave you to go to heaven
I carry you in my smile
For the first time my true reflection i see
Happy everafter in your eyes

Every star in the night
Promises the dawn
I will be there if you fall
To ever so heavily rest upon

All that i can give you
Is forever yours to keep
Wake up every day with a dream
And happyever after in your eyes

Happy everafter is in your eyes.

Heath Ledger

Text at the poster's sidebar at Youtube:
The body of Heath Ledger was cremated in Australia on Saturday and his remains were laid to rest.

Michelle Williams read Shakespeare at the service and some of Ledger's favorite songs were played, including the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun.

After the service, mourners gathered at a beach side restaurant and many, including Williams, went fully clothed into the ocean as they watched the sunset.

Although I believe Heath didn't kill himself intentionally, I find some of the words in this song ~ Vincent ~ cause me to think of Heath. All I have is my feelings from my reading various things about Heath. I can believe that he was shy as I read and I can believe he was in despair over his break-up with Michelle and not being able to see his beloved daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger near the end of his life. It is too bad that he had too many conflicting prescribed medications that were lethal. When we are young and going through the loss of love in our lives, we don't always think clearly.

Lyrics

Vincent

Starry, starry night

paint your palette blue and grey

look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils

catch the breeze and the winter chills

in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how

perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry, starry night
flaming flowers that brightly blaze

swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent's eyes of China blue.

Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain
weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.

And now I understand
what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity

how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you

but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that
starry, starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;

But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.

Starry, starry night
portraits hung in empty halls

frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

the ragged men in ragged clothes

the silver thorn of bloody rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.

And now I think I know
what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

CAN'T HELP BUT BE PULLED TOWARD HEATH LEDGER'S WORK

I haven't seen all of Heath Ledgers films but of those I have seen my favorite is The Four Feathers... and Brokeback Mountain and A Knights Tale are my next favorites. I love the special features on the dvds, especially those on A Knights Tale. I have many more to see.

Harry's Journey from The Four Feathers
Text from the Youtube page's sidebar:
Heath Ledger as Harry Faversham in "The Four Feathers" is remarkable, and this video is a tribute to the soul-searching, fear-facing, courageous journey Harry took into the Sudan to find himself and his inner-strength.

His "return to himself" is a line in Return To Innocence - a song by Enigma, which is used with this video .

I have been recommending The Four Feathers to friends, strangers and my doctor. I loaned my copy out today to someone who has been having a hard time finding it to rent. In my state you can get dvds from any library in the state for free. Once I passionately love a movie I buy it at amazon.com Even if I can record them from TV, I want the dvds because of the special features. Love the special features.

Charlie Rose with Heath Ledger
in In Memoriam

......................................................

When Day is Done by British singer-songwriter Nick Drake. Heath wanted to make a movie about Nick Drake, who died in 1974 at the age of 26. He developed a posthumous cult following. During the productions of The Dark Knight, Heath had created a music video based on one of Drake's songs, Black Eyed Dog

Drake suffered from depression, insomnia and Drake died from an overdose of amitriptyline, an anti-depressant. This information was taken from the current cover story of Vanity Fair (August 2009), page 134, first column.

I am not sure if this video is the one Heath did. In the comments at Youtube PlasticPunkDoll says that this is basically it, except adds this comment: "The ending is different because Heath ends up drowning himself in a bathtub. They've only shown it publicly twice, so this is the best you'll get right now."

Lyrics

A black eyed dog he called at my door
The black eyed dog he called for more
A black eyed dog he knew my name
A black eyed dog he knew my name
A black eyed dog
A black eyed dog.

I'm growing old and I wanna go home
I'm growiing old and I don't wanna know
I'm growing old and I wanna go home.

A black eyed dog he called at my door
A black eyed dog he called for more

Nick Drake - source: wikipedia

Nicholas Rodney "Nick" Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter and musician best known for his acoustic, melodic, autumnal songs. His primary instrument was the guitar, though he was also proficient at piano, clarinet, and saxophone. Although he failed to find a wide audience during his lifetime, Drake's work has grown steadily in stature, to the extent that he now ranks among the most influential English singer-songwriters of the last 50 years.[2][3][4]

Drake signed to Island Records when he was 20 years old and released his debut album, Five Leaves Left, in 1969. By 1972, he had recorded two more albums—Bryter Layter and Pink Moon. None of the albums sold more than 5,000 copies on their initial release.[5] His reluctance to perform live or be interviewed further contributed to his lack of commercial success. Despite this, he was able to gather a loyal group of fans who would champion his music. One such person was his manager, Joe Boyd, who had a clause put into his own contract with Island Records that ensured Drake's records would never go out of print.

Drake suffered from depression and insomnia throughout his life, and these topics were often reflected in his lyrics. Upon completion of his third album, 1972's Pink Moon, he withdrew from both live performance and recording, retreating to his parents' home in rural Warwickshire. On 25 November 1974, Drake died from an overdose of amitriptyline, a prescribed antidepressant; he was 26 years old.

Place to Be
Lyrics
When I was younger, younger than before
I never saw the truth hanging from the door
And now I'm older see it face to face
And now I'm older gotta get up clean the place.

And I was green, greener than the hill
Where the flowers grew and the sun shone still
Now I'm darker than the deepest sea
Just hand me down, give me a place to be.

And I was strong, strong in the sun
I thought I'd see when day is done
Now I'm weaker than the palest blue
Oh, so weak in this need for you.

In August 2000, Vanity Fair featured a rising young star on its cover: Heath Ledger. Bruce Weber’s photographs captured the looks, character, and promise that the actor’s co-workers and friends described in the accompanying cover story. Ledger fulfilled that promise before his untimely death, in January 2008. Here, a selection of images from Weber’s shoot, both published and unpublished. “I don’t have a method to my madness,” Ledger told Kevin Sessums.
“For me, acting is more about self-exploration.”

Ledger told Sessums, “When anything is blocking my head or there’s worry in my life, I just—whoosh—go sit on Mars or something and look back here at Earth.… You don’t see the fear. You don’t see the pain. You don’t see the movie industry. You don’t see this interview. You don’t see thought. It’s just one solid speck. Then nothing really matters. It just doesn’t.”
