I WISH SANTA WOULD GRANT ME MY WISH TO SEE PAUL GROSS IN PRIVATE LIVES

I love to watch the acting of Paul Gross. I have two movies that I bought years back....Wilby Wonderful and Getting Married in Buffalo Jump. I first was introduced to him in Due South, TV series - bought that too. I adore him in that. Then I bought Slings and Arrows. He is starring in New York City on Broadway right now.

Paul Gross ad Kim Cattrall in Private Lives on Broadways at the Music Box Theatre. I wish Santa would grant me the wish of going to see him in Private Lives. (If you are listening Santa, it is playing through February 5, 2012. And I would need a train ticket and accommodations).

A Good Read ~

Slings and Arrows
Season 2, from Episode 6: Birnam Wood

Some of the highlights of this scene:

The major donor to the theatre, Mr. Henderson, has been presented a gift just before the evening’s play and has decided to speak to the audience:

….on a personal note, just like to say how ‘specially moved I am to be here tonight. Romeo and Juliet is one of the greatest love stories ever told and one that has special meaning for my wife Carol and me. You see, we’ve been married for 37 years. And in all that time, I don’t think we’ve ever missed a production of this play…that we could get to. Carol can’t be here tonight. She’s in hospital recovering from heart surgery. She’s going to be all right, the doctors tell me. But you know, when I think of all the times that we nearly gave up on each other, I get kind of shaky. I wasn’t much of a husband there for awhile. I’ll tell you that for free. But an experience like this ~ it teaches you something about the power of love. It certainly does. Well….enjoy (the show).

The production of Romeo and Juliet is going on while this dialogue is interspersed with the play’s dialogue:

Ellen: I hate this play

Geoffrey: Yeah

….Romeo to Juliet: My life were better ended by their hate, than death prolong it, wanting of thy love….

Ellen: You watch and feel miserable, if you don’t have that kind of passion in your life. Nobody does. It’s a fantasy. It’s irresponsible.

Geoffrey: Yeah

You know what I think. It’s painfully accurate. Two

idiots meet. They fall in love. They’re happy. Briefly.

Then, all hell breaks loose. Happens all the time.

…..Juliet to Romeo: ….sea, my love as deep. The more I give to thee, the more I have for both…are infinite.

Passchendaele ~ Trailer

Toronto article on Passchendaele, 2008

The Battle of Passchendaele was one of the major battles of the First World War, taking place between July and November 1917. In a series of operations, Entente troops under British command attacked the Imperial German Army. The battle was fought for control of the village of Passchendaele (modern Passendale) near the town of Ypres in West Flanders, Belgium. The objective of the offensive was to achieve a breakthrough, outflanking the German Army's defences, and forcing Germany to withdraw from the Channel Ports. The offensive also served to distract the German army from the French in the Aisne, who were suffering from widespread mutiny.

Lyrics ~
After the guns are silent
After your wounds have healed
After those crosses have been planted in all those fields
After that long boat ride
All the way across the sea
And after this train carries thee

Chorus:
I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love you after the war
Forever, for always, and more

After your boots dry
And the tobacco's all but gone
Along with all those postcards you've carried under your arm
After I remember all the words I couldn't say
And after this long night fades away

I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love you after the war
Forever, for always, and more

After this blackbird
Lifts up from off your chest
After your soul takes its final rest
My love, I forgive you; you never planned to die
And Love, I'll place two pennies over your eyes

I will love you after the war
I'll love you for always, forever more
I will love youBold after the war
Forever, for always, and more.

SPECIAL CONNECTION WITH HEATH LEDGER NOT UNIQUE

I know I am not unique in feeling a special connection to the soul of Heath.

I know because I watch the videos that fans make on different video hosting sites. You can see the special feelings that Heath enlivens and inspires in his fellow human beings.

And we are grateful. It make us feel more alive.

So in this way death does not end a life . . . . Heath is still with us.

Inside us.

Just like his characters came from inside him. He let them get in there and come through him.

Here is my second video tribute to Heath

.....................................................................

..............................................................
Heath Ledger as Dan in
Candy
and William in
A Knights Tale

Uploaded by ilovemylifesblog

Heath played such diverse roles. He showed whimsy, depth, intelligence, sexiness, vulnerability, strength and humor. These two movies alone show contrasts that make me marvel at his talent.

For Heath . . .

i carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it
(anywhere i go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done by only me
is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate
(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world
(for beautiful you are my world, my true)

and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher
than the soul can hope
or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart
(i carry it in my heart)

ee cummings

I became interested in Heath Ledger's movies earlier this year.

Heath Andrew Ledger was born April 4, 1979 and died January 22, 2008.

I have seen some of his movies in this order
A Knights Tale, The Four Feathers, Brokeback Mountain, Ten Things I Hate About You, The Order, Ned Kelly, Cassanova, The Brothers Grimm, The Patriot, The Dark Knight, I'm Not There, Monsters Ball and Candy. I bolded the ones that I found myself relating to in a special way or being drawn to with a special connection. I didn't want to see Candy because it is about addiction, but the music at the beginning is hauntingly grabbing and the way the characters are played is exceptional. And Heath as Dan, pulls you in. Heath is special that way. He is able to get inside the character. Or the character gets inside him and Heath let's it play through him.

My plan was to make a video while using four of his movies to show the diversity of the roles and his ability to become the contrasting characters from the inside out. But in the in end my computer wouldn't allow me to use more than the two in the above video - not enough hard space, so it said. And because of this, I wasn't able to fine tune the transitions, the video is disappointing from a creative point of view for me. I learned some things when I did it and will try to improve on it in my next effort. The movies I used, Candy and A Knights Tale, do show contrasting roles. Later, I hope to use The Four Feather, Brokeback Mountain, I'm Not There and Monsters Ball.

Heath supported and participated in The Masses

The following is taken from The Masses website:

The Mission of The Masses

The Masses is a collaboration of directors and artists united by a passion for music and driven by unique and diverse cinematic visions. Our goal is to connect with the audience, inspire the crowd, and function as a factory of ideas without losing the ideal. Within the intersection of art and commerce, we find the message and deliver it to the masses by the most powerful, visionary and authentic means possible, be it film, music, advertising, or multi-platform content.

We are all connected. We, the consumers. We, the creators. The Masses creates for the fundamental spirit in all of us.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In January of 2007, while visiting his homeland of Australia, Heath Ledger presented Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse with an idea to direct a video for their yet-to-be-released song “King Rat”. Heath’s vision, brave and unapologetic in its nature, would marry his love of bold and original music with his impassioned stance against the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place off the coast of Australia each year.
Always one to operate from his heart and take a stand for what he cared deeply about, Heath’s intention was to raise awareness on modern whaling practices through a potent visual piece without having to say a word. It was his way to let the story, in its candid reversal, speak for itself.
The video was fully conceived down to the last detail but unfinished when Heath passed away in January of 2008. We completed the video in his honor with the support and advocacy of Isaac Brock.
Proceeds from iTunes video downloads in the first month of release will go toward Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization committed to ending the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world's oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. We encourage you to visit their site if you are compelled to make a larger donation or volunteer your time. http://www.seashepherd.org
The King Rat video was directed by Heath Ledger, co-directed and illustrated by Daniel Auber with lead animation by Norris Houk, animation by Jade Taglioli and produced by Sara Cline of THE MASSES.
THE MASSES and Modest Mouse are proud to present “King Rat”. We hope Heath’s work inspires you in the same way his passion and bravery inspired us.
The final movie release that Heath is in will be The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) Tony
Those of us who feel Heath's spirit is connected to our own have Heath to bring us together I find. Those of us who check Youtube daily for new Heath fan tribute videos begin to respect one another's interest and honoring of Heath.
I find it difficult to think of Heath as gone in a way. There he is so real in the films and in the interviews in the dvd's special feature sections. These special features are gems.
Thanks to the directors of the films who put these special features together and respected Heath and his talent so much.
KISSING IS LIKE GOOD MUSIC
It needs form. There are crescendos and decrescendos.
It needs a build up, slow sensuous movement that artfully glides through each touch, a series of cadences and a well of emotion summoned up to please both yourself and your partner.
I wanted to include some clips from
Dear Frankie. And I found this Youtube by zzabba1986
GERARD BUTLER - IN THAT CLASS OF ACTORS WHO TRANSCEND GOOD AND GIVES OFTEN MISSED SPARKLE MOMENTS
I have just discovered the acting gifts of Gerard Butler. That is just me. Others have known for a long time of his acting talent, which is apparent by visiting one of the fan sites. But, too by visiting Youtube and seeing the lovingly made videos of his movies.
So far I have seen
P.S. I Love You, The Game of Their Lives, Nim's Island, 300, Attila, Timeline, Phantom of the Opera, Dear Frankie, Shattered and Tomb Raider 2. I only watched Shattered all the way through because Gerard was in it. Not my type of movie. And Tomb Raider 2 was not my kind of movie either, but again I watched it to see Gerard's work. His audition for Tomb Raider 2 was brilliant (it's on Youtube), but apparently he was required to tone it down in the movie. Too bad.
One big disappointment is that some movies/works are unavailable in Region 1, the USA.
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married is one of those. I found the same problem when I discovered Ioan Gruffudd. We are shortchanged when accessibility to the USA is bypassed.
I particularly liked
P.S. I Love You, The Game of Their Lives (The Miracle Match), 300, Attila and Dear Frankie. Gratefully HBO has shown P.S. I Love You over and over - my portal to Gerard's movies. And all the other movies that I have seen - have been accessible from the public libraries. The Jury is on its way, so I can add that to my viewing list.
Youtube is a great source for such introductions. I will purchase a copy of my own of
Dear Frankie. It exemplifies what "moving pictures" should be about. Dialog should not be the core of a movie and Dear Frankie shows what real acting can do - the heart and soul of acting is in the body language.
Great selection of video of Dear Frankie
Uploaded by SoaringSpirit
I love
Dear Frankie so much. What a wonderful work of art. The commentary by the director Shona Auerbach lends so much more to the experience. You can see her aura reflected in the movie. And the deleted scenes . . . which includes the cut portion of The Dance. . . I feel this scene should have been left in the finished cut. As does Shona Auerbach. And since I am struck with Gerard, the inclusion of his interview is welcomed warmly. Emily Mortimer also treats us with an interview.
Gerard Butler is a very special actor. I admire how he makes each role so unique. So many actors play every role as themselves . . . you see the actor not the role being played. But Gerard makes each new role have special quirks, movements, looks or special silences that are unique to it. I love that about his work. He is sensitive without losing any respect for his strength in
Dear Frankie, but you even see sensitivity in 300 where his multidimensional character of a fighter for his cause is violently killing the enemy.
If he is not observed as the best actor we have today, he should be considered. Certainly under-awarded is Gerard for his work.
What I love about
Dear Frankie is all the acting that goes on without words. And that goes for each and every actor in the movie. It is the little things that allow me to discover the acting and treat me as someone with a heart and a brain. Too many movies simply don't give space for the acting to happen. They are just words that crowd out the little details, quirks, movements or facial expressions. Subtle is an overlooked art in acting. Great directing.
Consider seeing
Dear Frankie. And recommended also on the DVD are the extras that are included. Let me know what you think.
IOAN GRUFFUDD - THE SWEET AND THE FABULOUS IOAN
WHY GO TO SLEEP WHEN I CAN STAY UP AND FIND THESE FUN VIDEO CLIPS ALL NIGHT? TOO much fun!! My very first introduction to Ioan Gruffudd was as William Wilberforce in the movie Amazing Grace. Then I saw him in the Forsyte Saga and Hornblower. Ioan is from Cardiff, Wales and was recently married to Alice Evans in Mexico on the beach with best man, Matthew Rhys by his side.
MATTHEW RHYS PLAYS PETER IN LOVE AND OTHER DISASTERS
This is news to me. But then I never heard of Matthew Rhys until he showed up on American TV’s ABC show Brothers and Sisters. But this is so much fun I just had to post this. Here he plays Peter. So it turns out Kevin Walker is not the second gay man he has played.
