I have ordered the dvd of Rocknrolla through interlibrary loan. Here in the state of Rhode Island, every library in the state is in the same system and we can order anything from any library to come to our local library of choice. I am in line for it - seems there a two people in front of me.
Other posts of mine regarding the actor Gerard Butler:
As I have only discovered the superb acting of Gerard Butler, I am slowly finding his work. I checked out the series The Jury from my library. This is an ensemble work. And it took me watching the ending of the 6 episodes to get me really involved in the characters and story. Then I went back and rewatched the beginning with total interest. Gerry is really good in this. And amethyst51 has posted his scenes from The Jury.
The Plot
The killing of a 15-year-old-boy rocks the nation, as a Sikh classmate of the boy's is charged with the murder. The trial, which is framed by protests and media speculation, brings together 12 jurors who find themselves having to make a decision that the entire country is waiting for.
The jurors include: Charles, a young man who has left the seminary to search for his lost love; Elsie, an old lonely woman who is dying; Johnny, a recovering alcoholic; Rose, a beautiful woman whose husband is paranoid in the aftermath of a car accident; Jeremy, a once-wealthy family man who lost all his money when conned by a friend in a bad investment; Peter, who wants to be a good and impartial juror at the trial but is besieged by his wife's parents, who want to get involved; and Marcia, a single mother who is forced to let her mother back into her life during the trial.
The victim, John Maher, was stabbed twenty-eight times on his way to school one morning. His classmate, Duvinder Singh, is accused.
Here are some clips to hopefully entice you into getting the 6 episodes and watching the entire series.

Celebs flock to Washington to attend pre-inaugural balls
Gerard Butler wanted so much to be part of the celebration of change, he flew to Washington at the last minute to attend the party and soak in some of the excitement. Butler says he's scheduled to start working on a new film on Tuesday (January 20), which is inauguration day, but he couldn't miss the once in a lifetime opportunity.

News on Gerard Butler's current work on Law Abiding Citizen
Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler are in town to film "Law Abiding Citizen," a psychological thriller the Hollywood trades say focuses on an assistant district attorney and a vigilante plot set into motion by a victim of the legal system. Through Friday morning, the City Hall court yard, will be closed and access to the Septa subway stairs will be also shut down. Source: www.gerardbutler.net
Crew members from "Law Abiding Citizen" yesterday were tricking out a City Hall Cabinet room near Mayor Nutter's office on the 2nd floor to prepare for a shoot that's expected there today. Jamie Foxx, who was in Washington yesterday for the inauguration of President Obama, will be part of the City Hall filming. He plays an assistant district attorney in the thriller directed by F. Gary Gray. Foxx's co-star Gerard Butler, who must be studlier than we thought based on the amount of e-mail we've gotten from local women who want to know his whereabouts, is not part of today's City Hall shooting. It needs form. There are crescendos and decrescendos. It needs a build up, slow sensuous movement that artfully glides through each touch, a series of cadences and a well of emotion summoned up to please both yourself and your partner.
I wanted to include some clips from Dear Frankie. And I found this Youtube by zzabba1986 ......................................................
...................................................... Dear Frankie Observe the anticipation of a kiss at 3:16
The prelude to the kissonly heightens the experience. A kiss is just mechanics without slow timing and lingering electricity.
I have just discovered the acting gifts of Gerard Butler. That is just me. Others have known for a long time of his acting talent, which is apparent by visiting one of the fan sites. But, too by visiting Youtube and seeing the lovingly made videos of his movies.
So far I have seen P.S. I Love You, The Game of Their Lives, Nim's Island, 300, Attila, Timeline, Phantom of the Opera, Dear Frankie, Shattered and Tomb Raider 2. I only watched Shattered all the way through because Gerard was in it. Not my type of movie. And Tomb Raider 2 was not my kind of movie either, but again I watched it to see Gerard's work. His audition for Tomb Raider 2 was brilliant (it's on Youtube), but apparently he was required to tone it down in the movie. Too bad.
One big disappointment is that some movies/works are unavailable in Region 1, the USA. Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married is one of those. I found the same problem when I discovered Ioan Gruffudd. We are shortchanged when accessibility to the USA is bypassed.
I particularly liked P.S. I Love You, The Game of Their Lives (The Miracle Match), 300, Attila and Dear Frankie. Gratefully HBO has shown P.S. I Love You over and over - my portal to Gerard's movies. And all the other movies that I have seen - have been accessible from the public libraries. The Jury is on its way, so I can add that to my viewing list.
Youtube is a great source for such introductions. I will purchase a copy of my own of Dear Frankie. It exemplifies what "moving pictures" should be about. Dialog should not be the core of a movie and Dear Frankie shows what real acting can do - the heart and soul of acting is in the body language.
I love Dear Frankie so much. What a wonderful work of art. The commentary by the director Shona Auerbach lends so much more to the experience. You can see her aura reflected in the movie. And the deleted scenes . . . which includes the cut portion of The Dance. . . I feel this scene should have been left in the finished cut. As does Shona Auerbach. And since I am struck with Gerard, the inclusion of his interview is welcomed warmly. Emily Mortimer also treats us with an interview.
Gerard Butler is a very special actor. I admire how he makes each role so unique. So many actors play every role as themselves . . . you see the actor not the role being played. But Gerard makes each new role have special quirks, movements, looks or special silences that are unique to it. I love that about his work. He is sensitive without losing any respect for his strength in Dear Frankie, but you even see sensitivity in 300 where his multidimensional character of a fighter for his cause is violently killing the enemy.
If he is not observed as the best actor we have today, he should be considered. Certainly under-awarded is Gerard for his work.
What I love about Dear Frankie is all the acting that goes on without words. And that goes for each and every actor in the movie. It is the little things that allow me to discover the acting and treat me as someone with a heart and a brain. Too many movies simply don't give space for the acting to happen. They are just words that crowd out the little details, quirks, movements or facial expressions. Subtle is an overlooked art in acting. Great directing.
Consider seeing Dear Frankie. And recommended also on the DVD are the extras that are included. Let me know what you think.

AND P.S. I LOVE YOU GOT THAT NAILED DOWN Having just seen the movie P.S. I Love You for the first time on cable TV, I have enjoyed it since by watching it repeatedly. It just makes me feel good. I laugh at the same acting or lines each time I have seen it. Starring are Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank. Although a relatively small part Nellie McKay, I thought was outstanding in every scene and line she delivered as Hilary Swank's sister.
My son who is 21 years old watched it with me last night. He may deny it if I share what he said. But he really liked the movie, too.
Since, I have gone to the library and checked out several movies with Gerard Butler in them. Miracle Match is one. Here is the trailer. Here is a scene. I learned something by watching this movie about football (soccer) in the United States. A great story. One of the players in the story played 20 minutes from me in Fall River, Massachusetts. I particularly liked a scene on the airplane between two players about connecting with the "big spirit" in whatever way we have learned, in order to help us with what we need a dose of help with.
I adore this scene in P.S. I Love You... ..................................................

When I asked my son tonight what his favorite scene was in the movie P.S. I Love You he remarked of the scene near the end where the panoramic view of Ireland was in the background when Hilary Swank and Kathy Bates had just stopped on the road. It was an inviting view.
I love my life. I love where I live. And I am passionate about my passions. I love to dance. Necessary to live: music, piano, singing, writing, acting, painting.
I have been fighting for and supporting the arts all my adult life. Since 2004, I have been working with other activists to end the Darfur genocide.
I have traveled to Europe many times since my early twenties. Places I have been: many USA states including Hawaii, Montreal, Canada, Barbados, France, Spain, Luxembourg, England, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Germany - and have wonderful memories.
My last trip was in May - June 2013 to Spain.
I would like to travel to Europe and Kyoto, Japan.
I love the southwest where I have visited Hopi, Navajo, Zia and San Idlefonso potters.
Life is exciting and I intend to live it full-out to the end.

Genocide is not only a word,
it is crying of the whole human race.
There is nothing redeeming about being silent
when speaking up is the humane thing to do.
The honor and integrity of the human race is at stake.
