GIVING VOICE TO BEAUTY...THAT IS WHAT SINGING IS

...............................................................

...............................................................
Tonight I Celebrate My Love for You
Sung by Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson
Uploaded by Derek Yeo popdjdysh from Singapore

I won't even try to connect the song above to the thought below. It is just here.

Tonight, I listened in on the Awakening class online with Eckhart Tolle and Oprah Winfrey and this song came to me...
"V' asu li mikdash, v' shahanti b' to kham.
Make sacred space for me to dwell, and I will be with you."
Composed by Hanna Tiferet Siegel

This is a song that I sing to myself on my walks and while I'm driving my car. It is a simple round and is beautiful when singing with two voices. Singing is a spiritual gift. I wasn't given the most appealing voice but my soul feels so much better when I sing.

"God is as close to us as we can risk being close to our real selves."
from the book Please Touch by Edwin M. McMahan and Peter A. Campbell

Rafael Nadal's Blog while playing at the Sony Ericsson Open

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Hi everyone,

It is the first time I write a blog on this website and on this country, although I wrote a blog from the US Open for other outlets.

Let me say that I want to thank you for this opportunity and that obviously, someone is helping me with it, with my English, with what I write, since as you all know my English is not that good. So this is not fake, simply I get some help so that you can understand it smile.gif

I am starting this blog the day before I play and as usual at night when I have the chance at my hotel (now in Miami) to sit down, think and write. Tomorrow I play my first round match and I am excited about it. I arrived to Miami on Monday very early morning and have been getting ready since then. I actually, we, landed at 6.30 am local time since we flew from Palm Springs to Miami that same Sunday night. We were supposed to get to Miami that day since I had to do a photo shoot for the Sony Ericsson Open here in Miami with Serena Williams. For this reason the tournament was so kind to have a private jet to bring me and my team here so that I could be at the shoot on time.

I have had some questions about the passengers in that plane and I think it is no secret that I asked Ana Ivanovic and her team to join us. I knew she had some problems to find a ticket to Miami, she was on a waiting list and we had room left so I thought I could ask them to join us. The tournament also thought it was OK and they actually supported the idea so everyone happy. I remember Roger gave me a ride from Montreal to Cincy last summer and I know how it feels to be stuck in a place when you want/have to leave to play the next tournament. I didn't know much Ana before that but now that I had the chance to meet her during the flight I think she is a very nice person, a really nice person. Also her mother and her physical trainer who all flew with us and it was very nice to meet them too.

Rafael NadalSo we landed that early and I went straight to sleep. I got up around noon and after having a quick lunch I went to do the gig for the tournament at the Swimming pool in South Beach. I thought it was nice and I enjoyed the time there. I also think that all these gigs benefits our sport and I am happy to do them. I know it is painful sometimes but I know it is important. After this I went to practice to the site since I had not done so on Sunday in Indian Wells (I went to play golf and rested that day).

On Tuesday I had also some work to do but again it was more to support a friend. I practiced in the morning twice and after a very quick lunch I went to Wellington (near Palm Beach) to a charity event with David Nalbandian and his foundation. He had prepared a surprise and we played one set in front of polo players, patrons, team owners, members and general public. I went to the International Polo Club. I didn't know that's the place where the US Open of Polo is played. I actually don't know much that sport but had the chance to meet the "Roger Federer" of the sport, Adolfo Cambiaso. We had some fun playing and also managed to raise some money for David's foundation. It was a nice experience. The only thing is that we drove over two hours on a very heavy traffic and on a busy day since I'd practiced twice. But the cause was good and I am very happy we did it.

On Wednesday I had a lot of motivation for that day. You all know I love to compete, I love the feeling and flavor of competition. I prepared an early double session of practice in the morning since I the Sony Ericsson Open people got me a tee-time on the Blue Monster course at the Doral. Big match against Lleyton Hewitt, Ivan (his physical trainer) and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Two against two and also the one against one, you know...

I better keep for myself the result since we lost badly to them and I personally also played bad and lost smile.gif Well done Lleyton and Ivan! I will be back, don't worry ! smile.gif. At night we had the players party that I thought was really good and cool. Miami is a special place and one of the best places to do a thing like this.

And Thursday I had another typical tennis day. I practiced at 12 and at 4 and getting ready for tomorrow. I also did some media work that we have to do before a big tournament (press conference, TV interviews, etc.) and got back to the hotel pretty early (around 6.30 pm).

As I say Friday is my first match and I am really excited about it. Hope it goes well.

See you all,

Rafa

A PRESIDENT FOR THE PEOPLE

BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT

States: Dates for elections and results center

The Philadelphia Inquirer

Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey plans to endorse Sen. Barack Obama for president today (March 28, 2008) in Pittsburgh, sending a message both to the state's primary voters and to undecided superdelegates who might decide the close race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Dan Pfeiffer, deputy communications director for the Obama campaign, confirmed that Casey would announce his support during a rally at the Soldiers and Sailors Military Museum and Memorial and that he would then set out with the Illinois senator on part of a six-day bus trip across the state.
...

Casey sees Obama as an "underdog" in the campaign who sacrificed at the beginning of his career to be a community organizer "in the shadows of the closed steel mills in Chicago," said a source close to Casey who is familiar with the endorsement decision but was not authorized to speak publicly about it.

The source, reached by The Inquirer yesterday, said that Casey was also impressed with how Obama had stood up to the pressures of the campaign, including recent attacks over the racially incendiary remarks of his former pastor.

Casey's decision was also personal, motivated in part by the enthusiasm his four daughters - Elyse, Caroline, Julia and Marena - have expressed for Obama, the source said. "He thinks we shouldn't be deaf to the voices of the next generation."

Help Out ~ "The Most Important Office Is That Of Citizen" Louis D. Brandeis

Barack spoke about the need to change Washington in order to tackle challenges that face all Americans, like creating jobs, improving our schools and making health care available to everyone. He said:

Our nation is at war, but the struggles at home have been dominating the headlines and have been dominating the minds of people...people right here in Pittsburgh have seen how difficult this economy is for so many Americans for a long time. Everywhere you go, people are working harder and harder just to get by. You've never paid more for gas at the pump, you've never paid more for healthcare. You've never paid more for a college education, a dozen eggs, or a gallon of milk.

In addressing the speech he gave at Cooper Union yesterday calling for immediate relief for homeowners hit by the housing crisis and modernization of our regulatory framework, Barack said:

This housing crisis didn't happen by accident. We're going to set up an FHA program that lets people stay in their home and negotiate between borrowers and lenders. It's bad for everybody when you start seeing foreclosures in the neighborhood. I want to invest in infrastructure in this country. We can invest in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and put people back to work.

Senator Bob Casey

I can't do it by myself. I've got to have you with me. Because ultimately this is about the American people standing up and insisting on real change. When you stand up, when you make your voices heard, that's when you get real change.
...When we first started this campaign, people didn't think we could do it. They thought, well he's not taking PAC and lobbyist money, how will he finance his campaign? What they didn't understand is that you were going to finance my campaign. You are what wins elections. You're the ones knocking on doors and talking to voters.

Barack began his "Road to Change" bus tour through Pennsylvania this morning with a community event at the Soldiers and Sailors Military Museum and Memorial. He was introduced by Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey, who used his introduction to endorse Barack's campaign for President. Senator Casey said:

I believe in my heart that there's one person who's uniquely qualified to lead us in a new direction and that's Barack Obama.

We need to work hard and listen to the voices of people all across this state...We know that we have to bring change to America. If there's one thing that Pittsburgh knows, if there's one thing that Pennsylvania knows, it's that we have to do hard work. We have to invest in our economy. The best way to do that is to invest in our kids with early education and healthcare. It's not enough for elected officials like me to curse the darkness. We've got to roll up our sleeves. We have to invest in the skills of our workers.

...The new direction for America has to begin with the question of the war in Iraq. We can work hard, but we can only do so much as individual Americans. We need a President who is committed to change and a President who will lead us in that new direction, and he's right here in this room.

...[Barack] has judgment that is steady in the eye of the storm, and I believe he's the kind of leader who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief.

Imagine you are planning a wedding for 275,000 guests. You have to park them, feed them, entertain them and make them feel special. Imagine that instead of a bride and groom to pamper, you're asked to cater to every whim of 192 demanding world-class tennis players -- and their entourages.

They will need exquisite hotel rooms, Mercedes-Benzes at their disposal, tables at Joe's Stone Crab, tee times at Doral, off-site practice courts (preferably purple), haircuts, manicures, you name it. Welcome to the life of the Sony Ericsson Open organizers, the people who spend all year preparing for what they hope will be 12 magical days of professional tennis in Key Biscayne.

The bulk of the physical labor for the event, which begins Wednesday, comes during the final 45 days before the opening match. Under the watchful eye of Vice President of Facilities Cathy Stock, an army of workers erects 100,000 square feet of tenting and installs the necessary plumbing, electricity and phone lines. They plant 3,600 flowers and 1,800 tropical plants. They construct a makeshift Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's, a Heineken bar and the Collector's Club, a VIP members-only lounge/restaurant that offers everything from Amaretto Di Saranno to shrimp nic¸oise salad to grilled grass-fed beef tenderloin.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Stock and her staff transform the rather plain-looking municipal Tennis Center at Crandon Park into a colorful resort village replete with food, retail, and, oh yes, tennis.

The attention to detail hits you like an Andy Roddick serve from the moment you step onto the tournament grounds.

Purple flowers lead to purple courts. Purple tickets. Purple billboards. Purple programs. Purple carpets. Even the dress Jelena Jankovic is wearing for Wednesday night's player party on South Beach was custom-made in the ''bougainvillea purple'' from Sony Ericsson's official corporate palette.

During the tournament, the site becomes a 24-hour city. Show up at 2 a.m. and you'll find 50 security guards, a cleaning crew of 60 and food delivery trucks. The chefs arrive at 4 a.m. By 5 a.m., the place is buzzing.

The staff is so determined to make the facility look permanent that they don't use temporary tubing for plumbing. They use hard PVC. They don't lay wires and run duct tape or plastic over them. Everything is done underground.

None of this happens by accident. The vision comes from tournament founder and Chairman Butch Buchholz, and is carried out on a $21 million budget with a veteran executive board that includes tournament director Adam Barrett, VP Marketing/TV Wendy Elkin, VP Sponsor Services Dagney Potter, VP Sales Tom Annear and Stock, who is easy to spot because she always has a yellow legal pad in her hand and a walkie-talkie held up to her mouth.

And then there's Kim Hall, head of Player Services, who could rival the concierge at any five-star resort. When top-ranked Roger Federer showed up Tuesday afternoon for a practice session, it was her job to make sure he left happy.

''It really is a team effort, all of us working together with our 40 or 50 vendors to make it appear seamless,'' Stock said.

``The work never stops. We are already planning for '09. Each of us has a notebook and the back few pages are for '09. When we see something we could change, or think of an idea for next year, we jot it down.''

Elkin is the color person, the visual person, the one who envisions how the entrance tunnel will look, what color flowers to plant, what color umbrellas to put over the courtyard tables (aqua this year). She takes the Sony Ericsson palette and official typeface (American typewriter) and incorporates it into every aspect of tournament marketing.

Then it is up to Stock to implement the ideas, pull the permits, oversee construction and ensure safety. Stock is also in charge of moving the staff offices every February from their permanent Coral Gables location to the Key Biscayne site, where they spend five weeks.

MOVING ON

When it's all over on April 6, after the final ball has been hit and the millionaire athletes move on to the next tour city, the tournament staff and vendors have exactly 30 days to vacate the facility and turn it back over to the county.

''I kind of look at it as a traveling circus,'' said Buchholz. ``It's crazy around here for the 45 days before it all starts, and little by little, you start to see the place come together.

``Each day another piece is in place, and when the curtain goes up, the guests have no idea what it took to get everything set up. We want it to look like magic, but we know the secret. A lot of hard work and good people.''

BARACK OBAMA ON THE ECONOMY

Present your ideas to Barack Obama

“I believe that America's free market has been the engine of America's great progress. It's created a prosperity that is the envy of the world. It's led to a standard of living unmatched in history. And it has provided great rewards to the innovators and risk-takers who have made America a beacon for science, and technology, and discovery…We are all in this together. From CEOs to shareholders, from financiers to factory workers, we all have a stake in each other's success because the more Americans prosper, the more America prospers.”

WHEN EGOS RULE WE ARE IN TROUBLE

I am reading Eckhart Tolle's book A New Earth ~ Awakening Your Life's Purpose. So I am practicing being totally in the present. A big subject in the book is EGO. TRUTH is another topic. A topic I love. I think TRUTH is the center of the Universe. I am happiest when I feel in alignment with the Universe ~ the Source of All... and when I feel I am living the life I was given to live. I don't know if that makes sense to you. Somewhere I read that it is my job to be happy. When I feel guilty that I haven't done enough, I still feel good about myself if I am happy. Because I feel that if I can add to the happiness of the *physics of the Universe, that is enough.

Chapter: BEYOND EGO: YOUR TRUE INDENTITY
"When the ego is at war, know that it is no more than an illusion that is fighting to survive. That illusion thinks it is you. It is not easy at first to be there as the witnessing Presence, especially when the ego is in survival mode or some emotional pattern from the past has become activated, but once you have had a taste of it, you will grow in Presence power, and the ego will lose its grip on you. And so a power comes into your life that is far greater than ego, greater than the mind. All that is required to become free of the ego is to be aware of it, since awareness and ego are incompatible. Awareness is the power that is concealed within the present moment...The ultimate purpose of human existence, which is to say, your purpose, is to bring that power into this world. And this is why becoming free of the ego cannot be made into a goal to be attained at some point in the future. Only Presence can free you of the ego, and you can only be present Now, not yesterday or tomorrow. " Pages 77 ~ 78

"...If you believe only your religion is the Truth, you are using it in the service of the ego. Used in such a way, religion becomes ideology and creates an illusory sense of superiority as well as division and conflict between people. In the service of Truth, religious teachings represent signposts or maps left behind by awakened humans to assist you in spiritual awakening....

There is only one absolute Truth, and all other truths emanate from it. When you find that Truth, your actions will be in alignment with it. Human action can reflect the Truth, or it can reflect illusion. Can the Truth be put into words? Yes, but the words are, of course, not it. They only point to it.

The Truth is inseparable from who you are. Yes, you are the Truth. If you look for it elsewhere, you will be deceived evey time. The very Being that you are is Truth..." Page 710~71

- study of physical forces and qualities: the scientific study of matter, energy, force, and motion, and the way they relate to each other.
- physical aspects: the physical processes, interactions, qualities, properties, or behavior of something

I thought of ego while thinking of Hillary Clinton the last few days. I know the purpose of this book is for me to consider my own ego, my own presence, my own being in Truth...I get that. But I do see a woman in Hillary, who is trying to fill inner personal needs and she looks like she is using the rest of us to give her the identity she so desperately needs. Illusion is also talked about in this book. Summarily, I get this from Eckhart Tolle's writing: When we aren't true to ourselves, we live an illusion. We aren't living in Truth. And we are being dictated by ego. Our Past is driving us and we aren't aware of the Present...

Anyway, about Hillary and her story of Bosnia...
.................................................................

................................................................. I was wondering how a mother would have her daughter with her in Bosnia with sniper fire while wearing bullet-proof clothing and not have a clear memory of it. And I was wondering why Hillary wouldn't have a conversation with her daughter about her daughter's memory of the Bosnia trip when repeatedly her story was becoming suspiciously untrue. Then, I saw this:

RAFAEL NADAL AND SERENA WILLIAMS PLAY POOL TENNIS

.......................................................

.......................................................
Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams Walking on Water

From 28 year old Spaniard elimparciales

Miami, Florida – 25th March 2008 – To mark the forthcoming Sony Ericsson Open, which starts tomorrow, the tournament celebrated by hosting the world’s first ever game of tennis on water.

Two of the World's leading tennis players, Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal, took to a custom-made court to try their luck on a more challenging surface than usual, completing a seemingly impossible task more befitting a miracle than to a modern day tennis tournament.

The revolutionary game took place at the top of the new Gansevoort South Hotel as it officially opened its doors for the first time. The water-covered court was constructed in the 110ft swimming pool set in the Gansevoort's exclusive 22,000sqft rooftop retreat overlooking Miami's South Beach.

The court took seven days to build as a specialist underwater team constructed two invisible platforms at either end of the pool for the players to stand and play using a combination of bespoke acrylic sheets and supporting acrylic tubes that were bonded together. The pool was then filled with water before adding the finishing touches of a net and Sony Ericsson Open ball girls and boys.

The Sony Ericsson Open is the World's fifth largest tournament and the only 12-day tennis event on the ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour calendars. The event, which takes place from 26th March – 6th April features all of the world's top-ranked men and women players.

Defending Sony Ericsson Open Champion, Serena Williams, commented: 'It was a once in a lifetime chance to play tennis on water and it was great to be involved in a true world first. Playing against Rafa was a new challenge, but I think the surface helped to level the playing field - particularly as he volunteered to play at the deep end!'

Rafael Nadal commented: ‘I love playing on all surfaces, but this was different and playing against Serena made it even more special. Playing a game on water was a first for me, and I also liked the setting here in Miami overlooking the ocean since I love the sea."

Dee Dutta, Corporate Vice President and Head of Marketing at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications added: 'We've pioneered a few World firsts - Night Tennis at the Sony Ericsson Open last year, tennis on a football pitch at Real Madrid CF at the Sony Ericsson Championships, and now a game of tennis on water. With this amazing game we hope we have created excitement around the world ahead of the Sony Ericsson Open.' Source: Sony Ericsson Open
