SAYING YOU ARE CHRISTIAN DOESN'T MAKE IT SO ~ USA VOTE RATIONALLY 2010

............................................................

............................................................

Uploaded by ndintenfass

Rational thought has nothing to do with an opinion that doesn't require rational thinking. White sheets, burning crosses and lynching people was a sign of racism's intimidation in the past. In the present, racism isn't wearing sheets. There is a type of Freedom of Speech that is hate-filled speech that incites behavior that Jesus Christ would not approve of. In the political climate today, many who claim to be followers of Jesus, are behaving in ways that say with behavior that the compassion of Jesus has nothing to do with their personal speech, actions, their political views. I know how people think on the other side of my political views, because I was raised in that "other side". In my opinion, the reason Ohio's John Boehner and Indiana's Mike Pence state that they will not compromise in any way with the Democrats and specifically President Obama is because they have constituents who have given the green light to do so. There are people who are not solely upset that we have a bi-racial president or commonly believed to be our first black president, but that if he is perceived to have success for the American people that there will be another president one day that isn’t white. And that thought is unbearable to some of our citizens in the USA. Vote. Know your candidates' views. Integrity trumps experience. Both is rare and needed.

Fact: Taxes have gone down since President Obama has become President.

By the way, just because a person says they care about God and/or Jesus Christ, doesn't mean it is true. Just because someone says that they are a Christian doesn't prove a thing. But acting and speaking with love and compassion does prove the principles, values, convictions that someone lives their life by.

It’s nearly the end of 2008 and Rafa doesn’t stop getting awards. The latest one has come from the hands of ‘Marca’, a popular Spanish newspaper that has honoured him with the ‘Marca Legend’ prize for excellence in his career.

The King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos, together with the Queen, Doña Sofía were present at the ceremony of the Sport’s newspaper 70th anniversary, which had other 50 Spanish sport legends present.

Federer vs. Nadal - 2008 Wimbledon Final, Epilogue

12/15/08 8:29 PM | Ricky Dimon

Tennis talk has recapped the epic 2008 Wimbledon final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in a seven-part series throughout the past week. It ends with this epilogue.

This one didn't end with Federer's final stroke. No, this one lives on forever. In memories, discussions of all-time greatest matches, and most certainly in Wimbledon lore.

It couldn't have ended with the last shot, because it just kept getting better and better. Considering the magnitude of what had just transpired, it was almost incredible that Federer and Nadal were even able to muster the mental strength to give on-court interviews. But, as usual, the two great champions did, and did so flawlessly.

Rafa is a deserving champion, opened Federer. He just played fantastically. It was a joy again to play here. Ill be back next year.

Nadal took it one step further in praising his opponent. The Wimbledon champion even suggested it was unlucky that he had to play in the same era as the best player of the history, Roger Federer. When asked if beating Federer made the title even more special, Nadal answered, He's still the No.1 (player in the world). He's still the best. Hes still five-time champion here and right now I have one.
One for all time, more like it.

You didn't even have to see the match to know just how historic this event was (or should I say, is). Just listening to the post-game comments of various commentators would have been enough.

Nothing told the tale better than the interviews Federer and Nadal did with NBC commentator John McEnroe (who perhaps played perhaps the second best match ever on the very same court 28 years earlier against Björn Borg). Heck, McEnroe even had to end his interview with Federer prematurely because both men were breaking down emotionally. It was the greatest match I ever witnessed, McEnroe said to the runner-up. Give me a hug. Thank you, man. Thank you so much.

Unbelievable effort, McEnroe exclaimed as Nadal approached while Federer exited in tears. Its the greatest match I have ever seen in my tennis career.

I was crying for like 10 minutes, admitted Nadal. It was a dream and now I have the trophy.
Even after Federer and Nadal were finally allowed to wander off into history, McEnroe couldnt stop. To fellow announcer Ted Robinson, he explained, This is one of those days I feel lucky to in some small way be a part of this truly memorable, unbelievable match.

Shouldn't we all.

The scoreline shows that Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(8), 9-7. Perhaps the numbers are correct, but the score is wrong in one critical aspect. Defeated suggests there was loser. Well, on this day there were no losers.

Tennis won. We all won.

I hope one day even Federer will agree. I think one day maybe when and if he surpasses Pete Sampras' all-time Grand Slam record he will. Source: www.tennistalk.com/en/news

RAFA RECEIVES ‘MARCA LEGEND’ AWARD AND GETS READY FOR MATCH AGAINST MALARIA

15th of December

It’s nearly the end of 2008 and Rafa doesn’t stop getting awards. The latest one has come from the hands of ‘Marca’, a popular Spanish newspaper that has honoured him with the ‘Marca Legend’ prize for excellence in his career.

The King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos, together with the Queen, Doña Sofía were present at the ceremony of the Sport’s newspaper 70th anniversary, which had other 50 Spanish sport legends present.

At the event, Don Juan Carlos was delighted to congratulate Rafa (and the Davis Cup team) for capturing this year’s title at Mar del Plata in Argentina and for ‘all his other achievements at the Grand Slam events and Olympic games during the 2008 season. These amazing accomplishments contributed to his rise at the top of the world rankings in August.

RAFA –VS- IKER

Today will be another busy day for Rafa. He and Iker will be the main attractions at today’s charity event: “Iker’s Friends –VS- Rafa’s Friends’. A humanitarian cause which they put together to help free the world from Malaria.

Before yesterday’s ceremony in Madrid, both players presented Esperanza Aguirre (the president of the ‘Communidad de Madrid) with the t-shirts that each of them will wear for the second edition of this evening’s event.

Amongst the sport starts invited to play at the fund-raiser will be: Fernando Alonso, Novak Djokovic, Jorge Lorenzo, Alberto Contador, Fabio Cannavaro, David Ferrer, Álvaro Bautista, Fernando Verdasco, Santiago Cazorla, Sergio Ramos, Raúl, David Villa, Pedro de la Rosa, Carlos Sainz, Marcos Senna, Sete Gibernau and there might even be a last minute surprise appearance.

The matches will be played at the ‘Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid’, at 8:00pm (local Spanish time). There will be a karts race where the teams will be split into groups of 4 and those who don’t get the opportunity to race will play a ‘mini-tennis’ competition.

La Oreja de Van Gogh, and ‘Andy & Lucas’, two very popular Spanish bands will also be part of the entertainment.

Last year, "Iker vs Nadal" had a total of 5.000 people in the crowd compared to this year’s 10.000. So far they’ve been able to raise 200.000 euros, 30.000 euros more than last year.

RAFA –VS- DJOKOVIC IN HAMBURG FIGHTING FOR THE No.2 SPOT

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=FCHvcpdaA9o

It's hard to believe now, but Rafa almost became No. 3 in the world before he became No. 1.??

That's right; his No. 2 ranking was at stake when Rafa took on third-ranked Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the Masters Series Hamburg back in May. The stage was set, and the match lived up to the hype.??

Rafa needed three hours and thee minutes to subdue Djokovic 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. The scoreline is not as flabbergasting as those of other top matches, but it terms of tennis quality, this one was hard to beat.??Amazing; one of my best matches,” said Rafa.??

“It was great to be part of a fantastic match; the quality was very high,” added Djokovic. “It was one of the best, maybe the best match I can remember I played on clay.”??

“I am a little bit tired right now so let's see how I feel tomororow,” Rafa explained of his upcoming title rematch with Federer. “I'll need to be 100 percent if I want to have a chance of beating Roger.”??He must have been 100 percent, as Rafa avenged his 2007 loss and was well on his way to No. 1. No. 3, on the other hand, became an afterthought.

RAFA –VS- CORIA IN 2005’S ROME FINAL

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=uFu8KlCXw3A

The 18-year-old with bulging biceps, was the imposing figure in this final, but it was the tiny Guillermo Coria who dictated play for most of this five-hour, 14-minute classic that ended in customary fashion: with Rafa on his back, sprawled out after another stirring win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(6).

Rafa applied tape to his blistered fingers the entire match and seemed exhausted when he lost the first three games of the fifth set. I thought that sooner or later he would give up, or at least ease up, Coria said after the match. Rafa did not.

His defense and will carried him to his 17th consecutive victory, a win he described as “the toughest match of my life”. He needed four match points before he could take away the victory.

RAFA-VS- CARLOS MOYA IN CHENNAI 2008 SEMI-FINAL

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=CVIJA4Jx4Gg

World number two Rafael Nadal overcame a dazzling challenge from Spanish compatriot Carlos Moya to squeeze through to the ATP Chennai Open final. The 21-year-old French Open champion won 6-7 7-6 7-6 after former world number one Moya pushed him to the brink in a thrilling contest between two friends.

Nadal staved off four match points in the second set tiebreak and then rallied from a break down in the decider against the 31-year-old Moya, third seed and ranked 17 in the world.

He eventually clinched the final tiebreak 7-1 to end the marathon contest lasting almost four hours."It was one of the most emotional matches of my career," a relieved Nadal told reporters.

"It was unbelievable.""It is great to get off to such a start. It is very good to play in the final at the start of the season."A dejected Moya said: "I had many chances to win. Against Nadal if you don't take advantage of them, you will lose."

RAFA –VS- FEDERER IN WIMBLEDON FINAL 2008

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=K3ZQn4kHqSk

Yes, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal left EVERYONE searching for words at the end of arguably the greatest match ever played, and five months later, I’m still gasping for breath.??

It was just that good.??But why was it so good? Is it simply because of the quality of tennis??? Well, it had everything. And more.?There is not one thing I can think of that this one lacked. For Federer supporters, of course, it lacked the desired outcome.?

That really leaves you, the unbiased observer, with only one legitimate gripe. And that is that the match ended at all. If you had your druthers, it would still be going on right now. But then you realize that if the match had gone on just one minute longer—if Rafa had failed to hold serve at 8-7—it would have been stopped at 8-8 (or at the 9-8 changeover at the latest) due to darkness.??

Getting interrupted by two rain delays? That just adds to the drama. Getting interrupted by nighttime and forced to conclude a whole day later? That’s just a disaster.?But it wasn’t, and because it wasn’t, it was perfect.

RAFA –VS- LLEYTON HEWITT IN AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2005

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=tnH092Qtyhc

2005 was Nadal's best year to date on the tour. Another clash down under with Hewitt, this time 5 sets, saw the 18 year old Nadal playing insanely well, with his ranking just itching to shoot up. That 4th rounder in Australia bumped him up to 47.

“Rafa, a teenager, who is full of energy and charisma, has a fine future in this game” they said at the time. Rafa tired in the fourth set and was virtually out on his feet in the fifth when he needed treatment for cramp. "He's going to be a tough player on any surface," said Hewitt. "He has a massive forehand and his backhand is definitely not a weakness. It's just not quite as strong."

Indiana Secretary of State website's results are not updated. Indiana was called for Obama-Biden, but the Secretary of State's website shows McCain-Palin in the lead still on November 6, 2008.

When I was volunteering for Obama for America during the primary season, I went to New Hampshire for the week running up to the Primary Day of January 8, 2008. Although outside my comfort zone I made the calls, walked door-to-door for Barack Obama to win. I met nice people, mean people, one who ran out of his house to physically shove me down the road and yell at me to get out and that he owned the road. The two organizing the volunteers were young. One was an unpaid 18 year old young woman and the other was postponing her continuing studies into graduate school to work on the campaign. They worked long hours into the night and hardly slept any hours getting up very early in the morning. They were always professional and pleasant. The residents of the house where we met each day to get our assigned neighborhoods, called a staging area, were friendly, had food and drink always available and virtually gave up their privacy for the campaign. Three of Senator Obama’s Washington, D.C. staff came and joined us in the GOTV effort. I didn’t know what GOTV meant. It means Get Out The Vote.

When I went to the Rhode Island Obama office in Providence November 4, there were people all over the place sitting on the floor with their own cell phones, pages with names and phone numbers on them to call and GOTV. This was going on all over the country in offices. Volunteers giving up time of their busy lives to call swing/battleground/purple states.

In New Hampshire, one particular family that I met in an upscale middle class neighborhood comes to mind when I think of my home state of Indiana where I was born and grew up. That was the only day that I didn’t go out alone. I had a volunteer along who was originally from Australia who was a registered voter in the USA. She went off in one direction, while I walked along my street. I saw a car pulling into a resident driveway on my assigned street. I gingerly approached them. Never knowing the reaction of the people, I felt anxious. There was an adult son and his father getting out of their car. Not only was I welcome, I had to finally tell them I had to go along. It went like this. The son who told me that he had worked in the federal buildings in Washington, D.C. and he didn’t believe that the USA would ever elect a black President told me that his father was a Clinton man. They also owned a home in Italy. The father couldn’t speak English easily. But the son shared the fighting that was going on in the family over the candidates and the USA The son had basically two things to say: 1) In finding out I was originally from Indiana he questioned me on whether I thought Indiana would go for Obama. I said that Gary and Indianapolis would. 2) He believed that American citizens were not informed voters and didn’t care about anybody but themselves, basically. I happen to agree that many USA citizens aren’t informed and that we are a country that thinks that what we think and say is more important than what anyone else thinks. So I didn’t disagree with his assessments and concerns. He was hot. It definitely got him riled. Understandable.

I just wasn’t going to relent and give up the chance that Barack Obama could win.

When I checked the 15 counties in Indiana where Barack won and also checked by how many per centage points, I found something very interesting.
Gary (near Chicago) and Indianapolis (the state capital) did go for Barack.

But the 15 of 92 counties that went for Barack were
Delaware (Ball State University),
Monroe (Indiana University),
Marion (Indianapolis with Marian College, Martin University, Indiana and Purdue University extensions, nearby Vincennes University, etc),
Lake (Gary),
Porter (Valparaiso University),
Starke and La Porte (near Notre Dame University), St.Joseph (Notrre Dame University),
Madison (next to the county of Ball State University), Tippecannoe (Purdue University),
Vigo (Terre Haute University and Rose Hulman Institute of Technology),
Posey (University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana),
Spencer and Perry both of southwestern Indiana near Evansville.

Amazing the pockets for Obama basically were where the large university populations were. What was also interesting was to compare the per centages. In some counties that were adjacent to one another, the per centages would be the opposite. Where one county went 2 to 1 for Barack Obama, the counties beside it would go 2 to1 for McCain. Not always, but a lot.

I lived in the northeast corner which all counties went for John McCain and Sarah Palin. These were my people. Except I have nothing in common with them apparently. When I went to Wednesday night Bible study a couple of years ago in my childhood church, the subject was government, the Bible and the church. When asked what issues we thought were important politically, I mentioned Darfur and genocide. I imagined not many there were concerned about my mentioned subject. Probably didn’t know about Darfur. The only other person to say anything that I remember two years later, is that one woman was very agitated about her mentioned subject of abortion. It was the only subject she felt was important.

Genocide and abortion. See any comparable parallels? I do. But never have I heard a person who is against legalized abortion speak out against genocide.

But this is Indiana. Although the metropolis of the second largest city (Fort Wayne) of Indiana is 30 minutes away from my two home towns of Huntington and Columbia city ~ this is farmland. In 2006, the combined population of the Fort Wayne Metropolitan Statistical Area was 570,779, making it the third largest metropolitan area in the state. Fort Wayne has many colleges also, but this fact didn’t cause this area to vote a win for Barack Obama.

But Indiana numbers added up to going for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. So the 11 electoral Indiana votes went to President-elect Obama. And this afternoon, North Carolina was determined today. And now the final totals are in. North Carolina Results county by county

Barack Obama and Joe Biden 364

A major manufacturing center in the Midwest by the mid-20th century, Fort Wayne included such employers as General Electric, Westinghouse, and International Harvester. Also vital employers, Phelps Dodge, Rea Magnet Wire, and Essex Wire comprised the largest concentration of copper wire production globally during World War II. As the 20th century came to close, advancements in technology and the reduction of manufacturing jobs nationally lead Fort Wayne to be counted among other cities in the Rust Belt. However, Fort Wayne's economy has diversified with time to include defense and security, healthcare, and insurance. In 2008, Forbes ranked the Fort Wayne metropolitan area 73rd on its list of 200 metropolitan areas in the "Best Places For Business And Careers" report. Individually, Fort Wayne was ranked 7th in cost of living and 11th in cost of doing business.

SMEARMASTER SCOTT WHEELER BEHIND THE HATE AD WRONGFULLY TRASHING OBAMA

WHO IS Scott Wheeler?

Not much can be found on his background. Nothing, really. What about his childnood, mentors, heros, education? I found nothing. But when I see someone's work that is so disgustingly hateful and vindictive I want to know who the person is who is putting out such character assasssination. When I learned that Scott Wheeler is behind the Hate We Can Believe In ad about Senator Barack Obama, I went online searching to know who this guy is. His ad claims as truth that Barack Obama is hateful, raging, too radical and too risky. This is not the truth, but Wheeler's ad is blitzing the television screens in swing states, his website claims. But it is being shown in Rhode Island and we are not a swing state. Little Rhode Island.

WISDOM OF KNOWING WHAT OTHERS THINK ABOUT USA NEEDS TO BE PART OF USA'S STRENGTH

OTHERWISE OUR IGNORANCE BECOMES STRONGER THAN OUR WISHFUL THINKING

THAT WE STILL ARE IN CHARGE

WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE IN CHARGE OF?

I am not supposed to be here. I am supposed to be where anyone should be at midnight who is not working at a job. But just as I was trying to wind down my internet obsession, I went over to what has become a "must" website for me ~ Watching America - News

I found this article and had to post it.

Die Welt, Germany

Osama Obama

By Philipp Neumann, Political Editor

But then what really stunned me were the arguments Carl and his three companions brought out against Obama.

Germany - Die Welt - Original Article (German)

What some McCain fans say about the Democratic presidential candidate.

“Where are you from? Germany? That’s really nice! I was stationed there in 1972.” It’s hard to believe how easily one can get into a conversation in the United States, especially when you look as un-American (and as German) as I do. Most people guess it right off the bat. Some have to work their way through Holland or Switzerland before they peg me as German. A few others think I come from England – something really astounding considering my accent – but maybe it’s because I persist in pronouncing the “a” in “can’t” as if it were spelled “cawnt.” But I digress.

Such small talk is always nice, even if you don’t learn much about your partner. The subject of politics is generally avoided in small talk. At least that’s what I thought until I had my first political discussion last night in a restaurant. As usual, it began innocently. The two elderly couples and I exchanged glances, then came the “Where froms?” and then the “Where tos?” followed by a few sightseeing tips around New York City. And then came the question, “What do you think of the presidential election?” I admitted I was for Obama.

Silence.

One of the husbands, Carl, said they were against Obama. They were for McCain and asked whether I had thought about why Obama really wanted to be President. “Because he wants the power?” I guessed. “Exactly,” said Carl, “and McCain wants to be President because he wants to serve his country.”

Well, O.K. I don’t really believe anyone who’s looking to get the most powerful political job in the world is driven by pure altruism, but I have to admit there might be something to the idea that there could be other motivating forces besides just the desire for power. There may at least be another basic philosophy, but I don’t really know if that’s true. In Germany, it’s normal for politicians to have always been politicians; they’ve never had any other profession. In the United States, the idea of anyone planning a political career as thoroughly as Obama has is somehow distasteful.

But then what really stunned me were the arguments Carl and his three companions brought out against Obama. He has no character, he’s a Muslim, he hobnobs with terrorists – the whole palette of cheap right-wing propaganda. And besides, they said, Sarah Palin was more intelligent than Obama. Excuse me? I’d had about enough. I finished my beer, signed the credit card receipt and departed the way everyone here departs after some small talk: “Nice meeting you!” Source: http://watchingamerica.com/News/10031/osama-obama/

Die Welt, Germany
The Unrepresentative
American Election

Surveys show that Democratic contender Barack Obama will likely be elected president. That’s not as certain as some polls indicate, however, because the electoral system in the U.S. wasn’t created to best represent the will of the people. It was created to create the most stable majorities...

I have noticed the few Russian articles that I have read at Watching America are putting the USA and Russia at real odds, today. Russia is not keen on the USA. Anyone remember, not long ago, about the Russia - USA relationship that was called the Cold_War?

It is a wise thing to know what others are writing about the USA...

And then there is this from

Die Zeit
, Germany

That's Not What We Intended

the following is a portion of the article:

From Paul Wolfowitz to Richard Perle: How the American architects of the Iraq war explain their failure.

...Over lunch at the Bombay Club, Paul Wolfowitz, the Pentagon’s number two man at the time, begins with a surprising admission: “Contrary to what you read everywhere, I wasn’t the mastermind, the string-puller.” Richard Perle, known as the “Prince of Darkness” to opponents of re-armament in the eighties and who works today at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, says much the same thing: “We three had the least to say; Rummy (Rumsfeld) made all the decisions. We didn’t have any real influence, although I wanted it very much. He usually ignored our advice. Doug (Feith) had no operative power. I saw Rumsfeld perhaps only three or four times outside the Defense Policy Board.” The Defense Policy Board was an advisory forum where Rumsfeld appeared every six months...

...Surprise number two: The original objective wasn’t regime change and democracy. Regime change was “the result, and not the object of the war,” – although Wolfowitz himself believed whole-heartedly in the benefits of democracy. “Just think of democratic Poland, with its totally changed, western-oriented policies.”

...Why did it go so badly? Wolfowitz: “We didn’t know our enemy. Saddam had already been planning a revolt for two years. We had no idea of the internal infighting that would be stirred up.” Perle recounts another fiasco: “We wanted to be liberators but within five or six months we became occupiers and targets.”

....
Was it a war to bring democracy to Iraq in the sense recounted by the eminent scholar Bernard Lewis? In truth, no. A distressed Feith writes in his book “War and Decision” that democracy “required Iraqi leadership, and there weren’t enough Iraqis with experience in democratic practice.” And so? It would be “naïve to think that democracy would have taken hold if we had just left Iraq alone.”

And, as misfortune would have it, the country really wasn’t left alone. Enter L. Paul (Jerry) Bremer in the role of Viceroy after Donald Rumsfeld called him out of retirement in Vermont. Bremer is no Lawrence of Arabia and proceeded with Plan F, which was to solve all the problems by dissolving the military and all the political parties. With that decision, the United States was transformed from liberator to conqueror. “We had the best intentions,” Richard Perle recalls, but under Bremer, the United States treated the Iraqis with “condescension and contempt.” The United States “was suddenly responsible for everything,” but without the expertise it needed. “All at once, 8,000 Americans had occupied one of Saddam’s former palaces in the Green Zone and half of them had never been in a foreign country before.”

Why did the plundering begin so early? The mind-boggling answer: “Tommy Franks (the top military commander) claimed he wasn’t responsible for internal security.” Perle’s conclusion: “I never thought we would botch it so badly.” And on the subject of democratization he added: “That wasn’t our main objective. If Saddam had brought out every bit of information he had on his WMD on the evening of the invasion, the whole war would have been called off. We were one hundred percent certain that Saddam had hidden all the stuff.”

So does the Iraq war shrink down to a saga of incompetence and ignorance? No other result than blood, tears and a big bill? $600 billion spent and 4,500 dead Americans so far? David Frum, coiner of the label “axis of evil” and member of the American Enterprise Institute, takes a protective stance with his colleagues: “Bush and Cheney really believed Saddam had WMD.” When asked why nobody bothered questioning this belief, Frum rages, “Do you know what would have happened if anyone had opposed him in February 2003 by saying ‘Mr. President, we’re not prepared to act. Please consider what will happen if anything goes wrong?’ He would have gone crazy and screamed, “I already told you we’re going in March!” That’s the way it was.

But the irony, Frum adds, is that “Iraq will become a stable, pro-Western country, it will return to the oil markets and it will play a positive role in the Middle East.” On the other hand, the war in Afghanistan, the one everyone called the one worth fighting, isn’t going well at all. Even if Frum wants to maintain he was right, it was an extravagant project that, despite all the talk in Washington, still has no clear meaning.

But why? An old Bush insider who absolutely refuses to be identified answers with the biggest surprise of all: “It was an act of imperial ego-boosting. We had to do something because we had been humiliated on September 11th and made into a laughing stock. We had to show our determination and power.” Would you do it all over again? The answer: “You would have to be crazy to do it again.”
