COMMUNITY ORGANIZER RUNS THE BEST PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN

Where will you be November 4th? I don't understand anyone who will not vote this year. I don't understand how stupid some people are. Some people don't want to know the truth. They just want to make up the truth and call it truth. Truth doesn't lie.

Barack Obama has run a superb campaign. Superior to anyone else. George W Bush had his Rove brain to be his axis of evil architect. Barack has used a different style. But no one can say that Barack Obama has no new ideas, is sloppy on details or the long view, hasn't shown true grit and fortitude, can't stand up to his own party (consider the stand he took on when he ran against the Clinton team) ~ this is a fantastic use of "community" organizing only on a national scale. His new ideas are shown in his various policies and his broad view of how to take this country forward into the 21st century although we are down and not quite out - but the new ideas of how to run a Presidential campaign are overflowing and they have worked quite well.

I am hoping and praying that this is all in God's plan. I question God's plan when I have to continually learn of the horrendous treatment of human beings by other human beings here and in other countries, of the lies we have been putting up with in this land of faux democratic government, tapping our phone lines, reading our emails, and torturing all in "the name" of what's best for the USA, helping corporate USA at the expense of the middle class and the poor, trashing habeas corpus... If God has a plan, then we need to help God implement the optimum plan. Otherwise, we get the same pool of Republicans to fill positions that have been filling those positions for the Bush years. With an unimaginable national debt, jobs lost on the rise with no end foreseeable, crumbling roads and bridges, many school buildings not fit to be open, health care causing people to file bankruptcy, foster children languishing in a system that is broken and under-funded, it is time to consider we have left this administration to go unchecked, unheeded and blindly trusted beyond a reasonable amount of time and chances to redeem themselves.

Time to wake up or die sleeping at the metaphorical wheel.

That promise is our greatest inheritance. It’s a promise I make to my daughters when I tuck them in at night, and a promise that you make to yours – a promise that has led immigrants to cross oceans and pioneers to travel west; a promise that led workers to picket lines, and women to reach for the ballot.

And it is that promise that forty five years ago today, brought Americans from every corner of this land to stand together on a Mall in Washington, before Lincoln’s Memorial, and hear a young preacher from Georgia speak of his dream.

The men and women who gathered there could’ve heard many things. They could’ve heard words of anger and discord. They could’ve been told to succumb to the fear and frustration of so many dreams deferred.

But what the people heard instead – people of every creed and color, from every walk of life – is that in America, our destiny is inextricably linked. That together, our dreams can be one.

“We cannot walk alone,” the preacher cried. “And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.”

America, we cannot turn back. Not with so much work to be done. Not with so many children to educate, and so many veterans to care for. Not with an economy to fix and cities to rebuild and farms to save. Not with so many families to protect and so many lives to mend. America, we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone. At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise – that American promise – and in the words of Scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess.

I will build new partnerships to defeat the threats of the 21st century: terrorism and nuclear proliferation; poverty and genocide; climate change and disease. And I will restore our moral standing, so that America is once again that last, best hope for all who are called to the cause of freedom, who long for lives of peace, and who yearn for a better future.

These are the policies I will pursue. And in the weeks ahead, I look forward to debating them with John McCain.

But what I will not do is suggest that the Senator takes his positions for political purposes. Because one of the things that we have to change in our politics is the idea that people cannot disagree without challenging each other’s character and patriotism.

The times are too serious, the stakes are too high for this same partisan playbook. So let us agree that patriotism has no party. I love this country, and so do you, and so does John McCain. The men and women who serve in our battlefields may be Democrats and Republicans and Independents, but they have fought together and bled together and some died together under the same proud flag. They have not served a Red America or a Blue America – they have served the United States of America.

So I’ve got news for you, John McCain. We all put our country first.

America, our work will not be easy. The challenges we face require tough choices, and Democrats as well as Republicans will need to cast off the worn-out ideas and politics of the past. For part of what has been lost these past eight years can’t just be measured by lost wages or bigger trade deficits. What has also been lost is our sense of common purpose – our sense of higher purpose. And that’s what we have to restore...

Whenever I have volunteered here in Rhode Island or New Hampshire, the young people in their teens and early twenties have inspired me in seeing their involvement in this campaign. They are taking the lead in helping elect Barack Obama. This was the first time I have ever volunteered in an campaign. I am one of those people who has donated in $25 increments. I feel more a part of my government by acting, not standing by.

Not only have I witnessed young people come together in Barack's campaign, but people my age (older). No age group, no ethnic group, no religious group has not been involved.

It is a We The People government. And unless we get involved we will lose what we thought we had.

Tonight while the Democratic National Convention was on television, tears welled up in my eyes. I noticed New Hampshire cast all of their votes for Barack Obama. That was meaningful for me especially since I volunteered for a week the week prior to their primary day. Florida and Michigan - states of much commentary by the political pundits - cast their votes. And having a blog-friend who is there from Idaho, I was happy to be watching just when the Idaho delegates were pictured on my television screen. Watching the New Mexico and Illinois delegates yield to the state of New York, so that Hillary Clinton would be the one to put Barack Obama over the number to officially nominate Barack for the candidacy of the President was impressive.

A historical moment for the United States of America in more than one way.

Photos of segregation in the USA are from our history. And racism still exists today. But today, we also took a step never taken before.

Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware set the stage for Sen. Barack Obama’s historic address as the Democratic presidential nominee by launching a heated attack Wednesday night tying Sen. John McCain to the Bush White House and telling voters they had the power to change the country’s direction.

On the night the Democratic National Convention made Obama the first African-American ever nominated by a major party, delegates erupted in thunderous cheers when Obama joined Biden at the conclusion of his speech accepting the No. 2 spot on the ticket.

“At the start of this campaign, we had a very simple idea: Change does not start from the top down. It starts from the bottom up,” Obama said, looking forward to his own acceptance speech Thursday night before as many as 75,000 people at Invesco Field in Denver.

Do you just let the media-selected "sound bites" enter your world by the drip, drip of the bits and pieces, that come accidentally to you and in your hurried and already too full life?

Please, don't do that this time. Get to know the candidates that you think might be of interest to you. And don't let the other candidates define another candidate. They have an agenda that may not be trustworthy for your decision-making process to count on with any reliability. Historically, that has been the case.

I can't bear to have another term of an administration who doesn't care about the American people AND our standing in the world.

They impeached President William Jefferson Clinton for lying and yet Bush hasn't lied? Yes, HE HAS. And about things to do with the country. Not about his "outside" activities. And Bush fired judges who didn't tote his line. Bush doesn't follow the United States Constitution. Bush allows torture. Bush allows the reading of our emails and wiretapping of phone calls. There have been so many violations of our laws, violations of our Constitution ~ that the Bush list is exhausting. And WE have let Bush get away with this illegal activity. Bush and Cheney claim we must give up our liberties to save our liberties. That is "Bush Logic".

What's a 527_group I wondered, since I have been hearing about it in regards to candidates other than Barack Obama.

527: A 527 group is a type of American tax-exempt organization named after a section of the United States tax code, 26 U.S.C. § 527. A 527 group is created primarily to influence the nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates for public office. Although candidate committees and political action committees are also created under Section 527, the term is generally used to refer to political organizations that are not regulated by the Federal Election Commission or by a state elections commission, and are not subject to the same contribution limits as PACs.

Congress is currently considering new limits on 527s (comment on bill, analysis of bill.)

Because 527 organizations do not make expenditures to directly advocate the election or defeat of any candidate for federal elective office they avoid regulation by the Federal Election Commission. The line between issue advocacy and candidate advocacy is the source of heated debate and litigation.

Many 527s are run by interest groups and used to raise money to spend on issue advocacy and voter mobilization outside of the restrictions on PACs.

I have seen that some people think there is no difference in the front runners of the Democratic Presidential candidates. The claim is that on the issues they are the same. I disagree even with that, however I have always had the ability to see past what someone is presenting and see "inside". It works for me. And then I was reading Ralph Waldo Emerson's Essays. I thought how relevant the passage below is ~ to how I see Hillary Clinton versus Barack Obama. I see Hillary as a pretentious person. I don't see her as living her own truth.

Barack Obama on The Meaning of Hope and Standing for Change

I see Barack Obama living his truth. His eyes are clear. He looks to me like he is living his life in line with his destiny. Of course, "We the People" don't have to accept his destiny as part of our destiny. I will consider that a mistake if that is what we allow to happen.

When I watch the candidates speak of both parties, I see a lot of ego in the way. I see it in Rudy Guiliani a lot. I see Hillary want to be President for her needs more than ours.

I believe Senator Obama cares about our people, our Constitution and human rights more than his need to be President. This is a difference that I see.

Fired up. One thing I really like about Obama is that he expects us ~ the American people ~ to reclaim our citizenship. Name another Presidential candidate who is saying that? Not one other.

Barack Obama's natural talent to "speak" to those across national borders would serve the Presidential office in ways that can't be learned. But we have pundits repeating the Clinton propaganda that Obama doesn't have the time spent in politics to be sufficient to step into the shoes of the Presidents of our past. Those of us who support Barack Obama for President see him as filling the shoes of the President of the future.

JOHN F KENNEDY on EXPERIENCE and the Presidency.

As I watched MSNBC's Chris Matthews' Hardball tonight, I heard Pat Buchanan say how Hillary Clinton showed "experience" with her comments regarding the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. And furthermore, that it was so important today on the campaign trail . This was Pat Buchanan's line mostly, but, even Matthews was on the same line.

Pat Buchanan said Wednesday (December 26) on Hardball, that his Republican party was counting on Hillary to bring his party together. I noticed last night how he repeated the same mudslinging done by the Hillary camp of Barack Obama. Buchanan wants Hillary to win the nomination because he believes that his Republican party has a better chance to win against her. He feels Hillary will bring together his splintered party. And tonight, Buchanan kept up his pushing of Hillary ~ like he's part of her team. It is obvious ~ at least to me ~ that he is a Hillary pusher because he sees Hillary as a Republican galvanizing object. He feels Hillary will stimulate his uninspired Republican base. And Chris Matthews lets him get away with it. And I like Chris, but he is not playing Hardball with Buchanan.

When a Hardball edited version of Barack Obama's comment on Bhutto's assassination was aired on Hardball and Matthews put Obama down about it, I was curious about what I didn't see. So thanks to Tommy, age 40 who lives in Munich, Germany (although from Oslo, Norway), I found the video of what Barack said today and watched his body language.

I love it when I see people outside the USA so interested in our Presidential race that they take the time to obtain these videos and upload them.

And since, Chris Matthews was negative about Barack's words, I listened to the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown express his thoughts over Bhutto's assassination.

Furthermore, Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan made it sound like "experience" meant "knowing" Benazir Bhutto gave certain candidates an edge. I don't see that. I think they would maybe have had an edge "knowing" her and meeting her, if she was alive. But "assassination" disgustingly takes life. "Knowing her" now will have nothing to do with working with Pakistan through that "experience" of knowing Mrs. Bhutto. I heard these commentators tell me that now that Benazir Bhutto is dead, that the people who spoke to her were more viable candidates to be President. How does that work? They spoke to her, they knew her, they respected her. But now, sorrowfully, she is dead.

Sometimes, these commentators just get in the way of rational thought. Sometimes, they should stop talking long enough to think.

And Buchanan needs to stop plugging Hillary and putting down Barack. He's only doing it for his "hidden" agenda.

I think we are fickle in this country. And I think we have the collective attention span of a two year old way too many times. When Barack Obama speaks, the world is already listening. I have pointed out before that people of other countries are posting positive and Presidential hopeful videos and accompanying comments on Youtube and Dailymotion. I don't know if other candidates are getting this universal support ~ but I would be surprised if they were. No other candidate transcends the same old tired Washington, D.C. And the reaction on this 5-nation tour was really, really good. And this is a good thing. "Experience" is fine. But some of our best leaders are natural born leaders ~ and I believe Barack Obama is one of those.

And this thing about "rolling the dice" with Barack Obama ~ here's what I have to say about that: There isn't one candidate that we wouldn't be rolling the dice with. None on them have been in the unique position of President of the United States of America. And being the spouse of a President whom you weren't talking to because he was doing the hanky panky in the Oval Office for some of that time doesn't give you a leg up on experience.
