Subject: Permission to use music
Do you ever give permission to have WMG music on youtube videos?
Using Youtube’s magnetic commercial bonanza possibilities by posting links to be able to purchase songs utilized can be like having free advertising agencies. Those of us who make Youtube videos are at your service, simply because we like the artists’ music and we like making videos that the whole world has access to. It makes good business sense to take advantage of this opportunity with the world's access to Youtube. It is a possible and promising partnership with the right guidelines and monitoring. To my mind, better business sense than simply barring the use of music. That is a dead end to endless potential to enhance money-making choices.
When using music, I would
1) put a link on my Youtube sidebar to purchase the music
2) put a link to the artist's website on my Youtube sidebar
3) Identify the song, the CD and website on the youtube video itself
and I would write on my sidebar how gracious you are to allow the use of your music - with the agreement to help promote buying your music.
As you must know, Youtube offers musicians to have the songs used in the Youtube video have a pop-up little window on the lower portion of the video that links the viewer to where the music can be purchased – iTunes and Amazon. It is a win-win situation. Free advertisement for the musicians. Many of us find music on Youtube that we didn't know before, love it and then buy it. It is true for me and true for others I know.
Thank you for your attention and consideration in this matter.

I spent all last night searching for my next song to use on Youtube. I found it. I had already found the song, but it was with the Warners company. So, I purchased four different versions at itunes last night and tried out two of them with two test uploads at Youtube, private viewing only. Voila! They both were accepted. Now, to find out if I can use clips from The Four Feathers, the movie I want to use when producing my next Youtube. I don't want another block out for the USA, like my last one.
