RAFA NADAL STEAM ROLLS AHEAD OVER FRENCHMAN SERRA

ESPN2 decided not to show Rafa Nadal and Florrent Serra's round two match in Melbourne, Australia live tonight. So while listening to the Democratic Presidential Debate in Las Vegas, Nevada, I was online on the live chat section on Rafa's website getting the immediate updates throughout. Cox Cable, my server, says that they are in negotiations currently with the Tennis Channel and so sometime soon I will be able to see these professional tennis matches and not be at the mercy of ESPN.

From the Australian Open site :

No nonsense for Nadal

Rafael Nadal serves during his second round match

No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal has made short work of his second round encounter with Florent Serra, easing past the Frenchman 6-0 6-2 6-2 on Rod Laver Arena.

The Spaniard hardly worked up a sweat, dropping just four games and producing 39 winners to completely overwhelm Serra.

The match lasted just 94 minutes, Rafael Nadal claiming victory with his ninth ace.

Nadal started the match in imposing fashion, breaking Serra in the opening game and denying him any opportunity to find a way back.

The three-time French Open winner is now on course for a third round meeting with either Rainer Schuettler or Gilles Simon.

Nadal's best performance at an Australian Open is a quarter-final placing in 2007.

World number two Rafael Nadal
Nadal only dropped two points on serve in the first set

Spain's Rafael Nadal marched into the third round of the Australian Open with a comprehensive win over Florent Serra.

The World number two never looked back after winning the first eight games and raced to an easy 6-0 6-2 6-2 victory.

Nadal said: "I am very happy. I hit the ball well, especially since it was only my second match of the tournament."

France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who ended Andy Murray's hopes in the first round, continued his progress by beating Sam Warburg 6-4 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.

Tsonga hammered home 54 winners and 14 aces to see off his American opponent in emphatic style.
