HILLARY ~ SOME SEE HER LILY WHITE AND SOME OF US SEE THROUGH HER FACADE

DON'T LET HOPE GO DOWN THE DRAIN

Angry African on the Loose wrote a thoughtful post "Obama, don't ever forget the burden of hope" and it prompted me to write the following comment.

I so agree it is about race especially when I see Hillary Clinton respond that “as far as she knows” Barack isn’t Muslim, but a Christian….when she indeed knows! She knows it is about race and she deliberately uses the fears of racists to perpetuate the use of fear to win at any cost. She doesn’t care that by doing this she feeds the divisions and cares less about bringing us healthily together than gaining power. A true leader aids in appealing to our goodness and lifting us to be the best that we can be. It is about race when a middle name causes so much outright disdain and rejection of a person of pretty clear integrity.

“People are giving up on democracy. …People are losing hope… Because everywhere they go they see lies and more lies….It would have been called propaganda if it wasn’t for the facade of democracy.” This part jumped out at me.

Personally, I have hope IF Barack Obama gets the opportunity to lead our nation of the unengaged, the cynics and those of us who have been energized by his message that rings clear and that we are hungry for. But if we get Hillary for the nominee, the energy will be sucked out of me. I will be stunned and hope-starved.

and about Barack Obama:
“…We are you… Be us. Be with us.” It is really us that needs to step up to the plate. The grass roots has brought him this close, but it will be the grass roots who have failed if he doesn’t get the nomination. That is my opinion and I have been involved in the grass roots efforts. I am thoroughly disappointed in my state of Rhode Island tonight. We have one word on our state flag and it is HOPE. The flag isn’t waving for me tonight.

The hope isn’t dead but Hillary for me is like throwing water on my fire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though, Hillary Clinton has not run a well-organized campaign and there has been infighting within her campaign leaders, she continues to tells us she is the best candidate to lead us. She hasn't led her campaign well. My belief: She wins, we lose. She says that the states that she has won are the only important states. And when she has lost she ignores that fact and never publicly acknowledges Senator Obama's victories. And at the same time, she dismisses the people in those states as deserving to be dismissed. But she claims that she cares about all Americans. This is a contradiction at best.
I don't see the Hillary that her supporters see. She repels me. Though this is a personal thing, my Republican brother who just voted for the first time for a democrat Presidential candidate, feels the same way that I do, only more intensely against Hillary Clinton. He has a friend who knows Hillary personally and has some very alarming stories about her. I don't believe what Hillary says. I don't wish her ill. But I certainly will be seriously considering voting for someone else who is not a Democrat if she gets the nomination. But that is not a good alternative for me.
So I continue to hope Barack Obama will be the Democratic Presidential nominee.
There is still that chance. But even so, Hillary is giving John McCain plenty for his politicking arsenal to use against Barack Obama should he be the Democratic nominee for President. Nothing about the way she campaigns says she cares more about the nation's people than her personal victory for President. Never once have you heard Barack Obama dig up all the dirt and thrown muddy statements about all that vetting she likes to claim as a crown of laurel. Never once has anyone asked about her childhood, her religioius affiliation, and all those books written unflatteringly about her. Certainly it will be open Hillary season including all of this should she be the nominee. Barack simply decided not to run his campaign with that kind of stuff as a part of it.
As someone who has gone door-to-door and done phone calls for Barack Obama, I can say with clarity that many if not most Americans do not put the time and effort into determining their vote. They vote on a whim. That is how we got George W Bush for the last four years. It is lazy voting. I just heard an MSNBC pundit say that Hillary won back her base, tonight. The base is the white women segment ~ most likely not college degree types ~ who they say came back for Hillary. And not women under 30 years old.
Tonight I received a message from an Obama supporter:
I have noticed that since the Iowa caucuses, the strategy of nuance and divisive politics keeps raising it's ugly head, again and again. I'm actually old enough to remember the politics of the 1990's, and it's devastating effects on the Democratic Party. The slash and burn Clinton's we knew well in the 1990's, have returned "back from the future," with a vengeance.
Every democrat that remembers this political re-run, has to wonder whether the Clinton's are trying to re-destroy the new Democratic Party in 2008. The political team that now claims to "embody" "change," is seemingly very comfortable using their same old strategy of divisive politics to reclaim their throne in the White House. Anyone truly interested in the future of our Democratic Party has to be very alarmed. The Clinton's political strategy of slash and burn will serve them well now, but the eventual cost to the Democratic Party will be devastating once again. The same strategy of half-truths, nuance, right-winged conspiracies, and divisive ideological battles, that won the Clinton's the presidency in 1992, and a subsequent New York Senate seat, will cost our national and local party, seats in the 2008 upcoming elections.
The last time we allowed the Clintons to lead our party, we suffered historical political losses, never seen before in American politics. The net result of the divisive, self-serving Clinton political machine of the 90's, shrank the Democratic Party base, and cost the party control of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. The sad result of the Clinton politics, and continuous scandals, eventually empowered George W. Bush past the setting incumbent vice president, Al Gore in the 2000 presidential elections. As a result the Republicans have taken firm control of the Supreme Court, appointing 7 of the last 9 justices, currently serving.
Looking at the complete picture, I don't believe that the Clinton administration or politics have lead, served, or is currently serving our Democratic Party well in any capacity. We have to understand, that as a Democrats, we have yet to fully recover from the political damage of the Clinton administration scandals, investigations, and politics during the "1990's. As a party, if we don't learn from our past mistakes, and demand a new leadership, we will surely suffer the same devastating consequences in 2008 and beyond. We have to move forward and turn the page of division, if we are going to expand our electorate and chart a stronger, more inclusive future for the Democratic Party. Thank you for your comment. I would have lost my "unpaid" job, if I was working for Barack unfortunately.
