TO REACH THE UNREACHABLE STAR

Memorial Service for Ted Kennedy

I have portions of the service on this post, as well as the video just below of Ted Kennedy speaking at his brother, Robert's, funeral after his assassination.

However, at the special Edward Moore Kennedy's tribute website, the memorial service is available in whole tedkennedy.org/pages/video_celebration_of_life_memorial_service

If you click on this post's title, it will take you to the special tribute website. It is a treasure trove.

Ted Kennedy (1932 - 2009) gives eulogy at his second assassinated brother's funeral - Robert Kennedy (1925-1968).

This is the closing part of the eulogy, using excerpts from Bobby's famous speech to the students of a South African university in 1966.

"He saw wrong and tried to right it. He saw suffering and tried to Heal it, saw a War and tried to stop it.

"Some men see things as they are and say 'Why'? I dream things that never were and say 'Why Not"?"

Also at the link just above, can be found the song Just A Closer Walk With Thee performed by the Boston Community Chorus. Using the top video on the page - slide to 2:42:35 for the song.

Lyrics to The Impossible Dream

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star.
