TENNIS AS ART - RAFAEL NADAL HAS INSPIRED

There has been match after match, when I have watched Rafael Nadal not only lift his own game, but his opponent's game has been lifted to a place never before seen. Rafa seems to help it all unfold in front of our eyes. Tennis has transcended just sport.

Was it a tennis match?

May...be.

Maybe

part bull match without the bulls.

It seemed to have blood-letting,

Heart drove the body,

Intuitive decisions

transcended what we think of as a tennis match.

Two Spanish Bulls

fighting

on a tennis court.

Maybe,

it was tennis,

but

maybe it was more.

It was also a dance,

a dance unscripted,

only to be improvised

by two choreographers

who made tennis art today.

It lifted the crowd out of their seats

It lifted our spirits.

This match

produced tennis as the champion

with two stars

baring their spirits for all the world to see.
