Sometimes a song stands out in a movie. And I'll Remember You does - written by Bob Dylan, performed by Grayson Hugh in the rolling credits of Fried Green Tomatoes. At 2:29 of the youtube video, the song begins.
I'll remember you
When I've forgotten all the rest,
You to me were true,
You to me were the best.
When there is no more,
You cut to the core
Quicker than anyone I knew.
When I'm all alone
In the great unknown,
I'll remember you.
I'll remember you
At the end of the trail,
I had so much left to do,
I had so little time to fail.
There's some people that
You don't forget,
Even though you've only seen'm
One time or two.
When the roses fade
And I'm in the shade,
I'll remember you.
Didn't I, didn't I try to love you?
Didn't I, didn't I try to care?
Didn't I sleep, didn't I weep beside you
With the rain blowing in your hair?
I'll remember you
When the wind blows through the piney wood.
It was you who came right through,
It was you who understood.
Though I'd never say
That I done it the way
That you'd have liked me to.
In the end,
My dear sweet friend,
I'll remember you.
"Friend, don't be a perfectionist. Perfectionism is a curse and a strain. For you tremble lest you miss the bulls-eye. You are perfect if you let be. Friend don't be afraid of mistakes. Mistakes are not sins. Mistakes are ways of doing something different, perhaps creatively new. Friend don't be sorry for your mistakes. be glad for them. You had the courage to give something of yourself. It takes years to be centered; it takes more years to understand and be NOW."
Frederick Perls
The video below is presented with graphics and music by David Kettlewell, a harper and musicologist who uses film and other media to educate the whole person: "musica humana" - the human harmony where each of us is a strand in the weaving together of the rich whole tapestry of life. Working from his red timber farmhouse by Lake Leaf-Sea, where the farming land meets the forest in northern Sweden, using the harp, film, and the Macintosh to help people feel good about themselves.
