I WANT TO BE A PART OF IT NEW YORK, NEW YORK - VAMOS RAFA!

If you google New York Fall Fashion Rafael Nadal, you find the Nigel Parry photos of New York magazine are spreading like wildfire in dry season. The "cats out of the bag" for sure.
Rafa is hot hot hot

My story of buying the magazine today:

I called my local Barnes & Noble bookstore to inquire if they had the magazine. When I arrived I asked for help as it always seems like "looking for a needle in a haystack" to find the magazine I want. The lady at the counter that I asked was the perfect person as she is in charge of the magazines. When we got close to the magazine section, there he was. The magazine was so prominently placed I wouldn't have needed to ask for help.

This bookstore - very wisely had the front cover facing backward on the rack and the back cover facing the customer. And Rafa is the back cover. And I said immediately to the clerk 15 feet away - "that's the one I want!"

Too funny. There the gorgeous self of Rafa was in Rhode Island!

Paid my $4 plus tax and off I went to an appointment, where I promptly pulled it out of the bag and shared the photo.

Of the seven online (slideshow) photos of Rafa by Nigel Parry for the New York Fall Fashion magazine at this link slideshow numbers 1, 2 and 3 are not even in the magazine. And number 4 is cropped for a "closer up" shot (which is included below).

NOTE: the photos were taken of Rafa Tuesday, July 29, 2008.
So smart of the New York magazine to know Rafa was going to win the gold!
wink

By the way the article on the next page after Rafa and The Case Against Uniforms (Tennis clothing over the years) is entitled Building An American Nadal- with this heading: Tennis in this country has been falling behind the rest of the world, without a new generation of stars. The USTA's answer? Tennis boot camp.

This is page 20:

Playing With the Form

Playing it safe: not something our cover model, Rafael Nadal, does, either in the way he attacks the net or in his singular on-court style (the No. 1 ranked male tennis player in the world wears Capris). The same can't be said of this seasons somewhat conservative turn: three-piece suits, leather jackets, slim pants... To make the most of it, we gave photographer David Benjamin Sherry, known for his intimate, unguarded pictures of his bohemian friends, a pile of designer clothes and no directions other than to hang out with them for three weeks. The album that came back starts here. We asked cartoonist Jim Rugg, whod never written the name Martin Margiela in his life, to imagine a fashion story; he created a twisted-ending romance (and told us, during its production, that the Margiela outfit here was his favorite outfit ever). And in time to admire it at the U.S. Open next week, we extol Nadals contribution to the long history of tennis fashion.

Is menswear pushing any edges this season? More like holding position. But in times of turmoil, a little stability isnt such a bad thing.
