Obama Newport, Rhode Island Campaign Office March 3, 2008
None of my speech is on this video where I speak briefly about volunteering and introducing Senator John Kerry, but I am seen in a light green suit and laughing at the 2 minute, 17 second mark.

Included in my speech...

We are not waiting for the world to change. We are being a part of making a difference, bringing change. Right?

I heard Barack Obama last summer quote a judge:
"The most important office is that of citizen." And we are proving that with what we are doing as volunteers.

Doing campaign door knocking and making phone calls are not in my comfort zone. But we must not remain in our comfort zones...

When I volunteered in New Hampshire for a week, here is what I saw: an 18 year old organizing us. A 21 year old organizing us. I am going to be 59 in April. I saw generations coming together. I am so honored to be working with the young generation. (I got emotional at this time.) I love them. I saw ethnicities coming together. I am from a Republican family. I am the only one who defected. We don't talk about politics. But my brother for the first time in his life voted for a Democratic candidate for President. He just voted for Barack Obama in his state of Hawaii. And he doesn't mind that I share this story. Barack Obama is bringing us together in his campaign and this is an indication of what he will do in his administration.

In 2004, for the first time I bought a political yard sign. It was for John Kerry. (John Kerry was standing beside me this whole time.)

Now, in 2008, I have a yard sign that has OBAMA on it with white lights in the shape of an "O" for OBAMA in my yard.

I don't know John Kerry except for what I have seen on televison, but this is what I know. He tells the straight truth, he is a man of integrity and he brought us Barack Obama. John Kerry.

Except for some laughter, applause and me blushing...oh and John Kerry putting both his arms around me when I said I was old... that is pretty much it.

It is too late to load the pictures tonight, because I am voting early for Barack Obama tomorrow then working for the campaign from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. driving people to the polls who need a ride.
