IS the bush MANUAL GOING TO BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ? In truth, our Land of the Free isn't so free. A suppressed people don't have an open government.
HE'S A SMALL MAN. A VERY SMALL MAN. Mr. Bush has A SICK IDEA OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY ASPIRES TO BE. Let's not stoop to the level of Mr. Bush.
I was stunned when Bush was campaigning to be our elected President and a world leader. I wanted to go to one of his speeches and "applied" to do so online. Immediately I learned that you had to be a loyal supporter of George W Bush to be ALLOWED IN TO HIS "Town Meetings" and speeches during his campaigning. (TOWN Meetings? A very selective TOWN.) This to me was out-of-the-question. It was off-the-charts wrong. What kind of democracy discriminates openly, blatantly in 2000? To me this is unethical. It is amoral. What kind of democracy during the run-up to the election in the "land of the free" operates this way? GW's kind. How can a "land of the free" justify prohibiting people from attending simply because they won't promise that they are strong supporters of the speaker of the event? This is wrong. WRONG. Very WRONG. They did this kind of thing for another leader. His name was Hitler. Don't they STAGE these kind of things in lands that we abhor? Haven't we been told by Mr. Bush that we are fighting in Iraq so that Iraqis can have the very freedoms that he is dismissing in the USA and not allowing in this country?
So, this Manual to Discriminate and Manipulate and Prohibit by George W Bush and Karl Rove, no doubt...... is priceless. Priceless because it hands us more proof of this man's lack of secure sense of self and his wish to be King. What is he trying to prove? It can't be that he has actually read the Constitution of the United States. He must have rewritten the Constitution because the one that I have a copy of would render me able to attend his outings. Hello. Are you there, Mr. Bush? Are you playing a game of "Hide 'n Seek"? You "hide" and we "seek" you.

A White House manual that came to light recently gives presidential advance staffers extensive instructions in the art of "deterring potential protestors" from President Bush's public appearances around the country.Among other things, any event must be open only to those with tickets tightly controlled by organizers. Those entering must be screened in case they are hiding secret signs. Any anti-Bush demonstrators who manage to get in anyway should be shouted down by "rally squads" stationed in strategic locations. And if that does not work, they should be thrown out.
This was exactly what I found when I wanted to go to a Bush "Town Hall" when he was campaigning. So this is not news to me, but still it is a story that needs to be "outed" and outed some more. There is no justice in the USA as long as this man is in the White House. It's a Dirty House as long as he is there. And we got upset over Bill's oval office extra-marital activity. Mr. Bush's oval office activity is much more a betrayal to the nation. But that does not mean the White House is against dissent -- just so long as the president does not see it. In fact, the manual outlines a specific system for those who disagree with the president to voice their views...
The "Presidential Advance Manual," dated October 2002 with the stamp "Sensitive -- Do Not Copy," was released under subpoena to the American Civil Liberties Union as part of a lawsuit filed on behalf of two people arrested for refusing to cover their anti-Bush T-shirts at a Fourth of July speech at the West Virginia State Capitol in 2004. The techniques described have become familiar over the 6 1/2 years of Bush's presidency, but the manual makes it clear how organized the anti-protest policy really is.
The lawsuit was filed by Jeffery and Nicole Rank, who attended the Charleston event wearing shirts with the word "Bush" crossed out on the front; the back of his shirt said "Regime Change Starts at Home," while hers said "Love America, Hate Bush." Members of the White House event staff told them to cover their shirts or leave, according to the lawsuit. They refused and were arrested, handcuffed and briefly jailed before local authorities dropped the charges and apologized. The federal government settled the First Amendment case last week for $80,000, but with no admission of wrongdoing.
My question: Whose tax dollars are being used to pay this $80,000?The manual demonstrates "that the White House has a policy of excluding and/or attempting to squelch dissenting viewpoints from presidential events," said ACLU lawyer Jonathan Miller. "Individuals should have the right to express their opinion to the president, even if it's not a favorable one."
That's what I thought, too. Apparently those high school Civics classes I took had it all wrong.
Tony Fratto, a White House spokesman, wouldn't discuss the manual because it is an issue in two other lawsuits.
The manual offers advance staffers and volunteers who help set up presidential events guidelines for assembling crowds. Those invited into a VIP section on or near the stage, for instance, must be " extremely supportive of the Administration," it says. Yep, that's what I learned years ago.
To counter any demonstrators who do get in, advance teams of volunteers with large hand-held signs, placards or banners were "told to create rally squads" with favorable messages. Squads should be placed in strategic locations and "at least one squad should be 'roaming' throughout the perimeter of the event to look for potential problems", the manual says. OMG!!
"These squads should be instructed always to look for demonstrators," it says. "The rally squad's task is to use their signs and banners as shields between the demonstrators and the main press platform. If the demonstrators are yelling, rally squads can begin and lead supportive chants to drown out the protestors (USA!, USA!, USA!). As a last resort, security should remove the demonstrators from the event site."
Feel manipulated?
What other governments do this in the world? And aren't they the ones we have always thought "Boy, I'm glad I don't live in that country!"
Advance teams are advised not to worry if protesters are not visible to the president or cameras: "If it is determined that the media will not see or hear them and that they pose no potential disruption to the event, they can be ignored. On the other hand, if the group is carrying signs, trying to shout down the President, or has the potential to cause some greater disruption to the event, action needs to be taken immediately to minimize the demonstrator's effect."
The manual adds in bold type: "Remember -- avoid physical contact with demonstrators! Most often, the demonstrators (American citizens that are a part of His Majesty's constituency) want a physical confrontation. Do not fall into their (When HE says "God Bless America" does that exclude these infidels?) trap!"

Vermont is the only state that has the distinction that President George Bush has never visited. Rhode Island was taken off that short list of "States, George has never visited" on June 28, 2007, but even so Mr. Bush avoided all of the protesters. My post title that day "GW BUSH WAS IN MY LITTLE TOWN TODAY - Bush IN Town But OUT of Sight". So when I read in the Washington Post article "... the White House evidently leaves little to chance when it comes to protests within eyesight of the president.
As in, it doesn't want any"... it fit exactly what happened When Bush Came to My LittleTown.

VPR's Sara Sciammacco reports from Capitol Hill about the Senator Patrick Leahy's return to Washington in hopes the Bush Administration would meet the Judiciary Committee's deadline for information on warrantless wiretapping. But Leahy returned to Washington only to find a letter. (Sciammacco) The extended deadline to turn over the documents passed. Instead the White House sent a letter to Senator Leahy one month after the original date --- claiming the "material is highly sensitive and potentially subject to executive privilege. But Leahy argues he is not interested in the operational details of the surveillance program. (Leahy) "What I have been asking, what other members of the committee have been asking both Democrats and Republicans, what was the legality." (Sciammacco) In June, the Judiciary committee which Leahy chairs subpoenaed information from the Administration on how it interpreted the law and how it justified wiretapping without court approval. Leahy says for more than six years phone calls of Americans have been wiretapped without warrants. (Leahy) "We cannot and we should not legislate in the dark while the Administration hides behind the fictitious veil of secrecy."
